ladydiehard
Its been 6 days since I have hunted my favorite stand. I let it rest a bit because I was getting visually busted by more than one doe. They simply knew I was there. So I left it alone, hunted another stand once but otherwise I haven't been out. But tonight I'm going out. 6 days is enough. The deer activity in the area has increased dramatically in the last week. Car/Deer accidents are on the rise and the fields are full of deer morning and evening...bucks and does. I just gotta get back out with the bow before the early gun doe season (WI T-Zone) next week. I plan on gun hunting too but I know its going to upset things for a few days for bow season afterwards.
ladydiehard
Re: Break Time Over & WI T-Zone What about it WI hunters? How does the T-Zone affect your bowseason? This is my first year bowhunting when theres a T-Zone involved. How quick do the deer recover from the 4 days of banging?
Chrud
Re: Break Time Over & WI T-Zone We aren't in the T-Zone this year. I don't like the October one but have no problem with the December one.
c_lou
Re: Break Time Over & WI T-Zone I am with Chrud. I am totally against the October one but have no problem with the December one. I think the DNR has been talking about eliminating the October one for next year. I may be dreaming, but I seem to remember hearing that. I think the big bucks will be long gone nocturnal after 4 days of baning away.
Guest Finn
Re: Break Time Over & WI T-Zone [ QUOTE ] We aren't in the T-Zone this year. I don't like the October one but have no problem with the December one. [/ QUOTE ] I agree. We're not in the T-zone, but don't understand a doe hunt during the pre-rut. That is probably the best time of year to be in the woods near us. My son will be taking a doe during the youth hunt.

gowest
Re: Break Time Over & WI T-Zone The timing of the late October T-zone is designed to interrupt the rut just as it getting started. It takes a while for the deer to settle down after three days of blasting in the woods. This really messes with the archers who time their hunts around the first week of November to coincide with the rut. In my heart I believe that the first T-zone is designed to interrupt the first estrous cycle such that the second estruos cycle coincides with the gun hunt. Ultimately this results in more deer taken - but at the expense of archers taking more bucks. Just my two cents, John
ladydiehard
Re: Break Time Over & WI T-Zone Guess I might crawl in the swamp for bowhunting after the T-Zone. Cedar swamp always holds deer no matter how pressured.
gowest
Re: Break Time Over & WI T-Zone seems likely...I would set up on an edge looking for them moving at dawn and dusk. One of my faorites during the rut is to set up just below a ridge top where a swale runs down the face of thge ridge. Bucks tend to run these in the morning and evening looking for does. I am planning to introducing Mr. Big to about 2 1/2 feet of Mr. Easton.
Chrud
Re: Break Time Over & WI T-Zone Last year we were in the T-Zone. We didn't hunt it, but were in the woods scouting. The neighbors did hunt then, and shot a few times. It had no effect on the deer, we actually saw a lot more deer the next weekend then we did before the T-Zone. In a perfect world, I'd like to see the early T-Zone gone, but it hasn't messed us up much, if any, the last couple years.
billygoat
Re: Break Time Over & WI T-Zone I don't see much affect on buck movement... Seems like, when the ruts heavy enough, them buck are going to move. Amy's mighty excited... she's hoping to nab another big WI Buck on this short season, but this year she will have to shoot a doe first! lol It would be nice to see the T zone gone next year, certainly wouldn't break my heart.
