I have done it a couple of times over the years and scored good hits, but those shots were the exception and for those few shots everything seemed to be just right. 20 yards or less is what I really like to shoot if it's possible. I practice out to 50 yards and wouldn't think twice about taking a shot that far, only if the conditions are right for that range. I have taken one deer at 40 yards, with no obstructions in the way.
