longislandhunter
Re: Shooting a bedded deer I wouldn't have any problem shooting a bedded deer. Matter of fact I think being able to sneak close enough to bedded deer to get a shot with a bow would be quite an accomplishment considering how wary they are,,, even when resting. Guest Xen
Re: Shooting a bedded deer i don't see what the big deal would be honestly, would you shoot a deer that was standing up and turned broad-side to you if he didn't know you were there? of course you would. why would it make any difference if it was lying down? WaCoyote
Re: Shooting a bedded deer I wouldn't even think twice about it. Frankly I can't believe some people actually have a problem with it. Just because they are bedded doesn't mean they are out cold have dreams about clover fields. They are watching and listening to everything around them. Just like someone else said. You shoot them broadside when they don't know your there what the problem if they are bedded and don't know your there. Actually if they are bedded and you can see them , they probably DO know your there. Take the shot!
Alisha
Re: Shooting a bedded deer Dad walked up on a bedded down 6 point a couple years ago... and when the deer stuck it's head up, that's all he could see...... so he shot him in the head and blew the entire lower jaw off. I too would definately do it as well....
elkoholic
Re: Shooting a bedded deer I have tracked four bucks to their beds and with one well placed shot on each, filled my freezer. I have also taken several buck that have just risen from their beds as I closed in. As I see it, there is no greater form of hunting than to track a deer on it's own turf and get close enough to finish the deal. The bucks I shot in their beds were all less than twenty yards away with the closest being about fifteen feet. Hunting means to seek, and, seek and you shall find.
