shockwave
would it be wrong if i posted a picture of a buck i harvested, while it was still alive ? All opinions are welcome ..
shockwave
Re: A quick question ?? [ QUOTE ] do you mean after you shot it but before it expired? Or before you shot it. I wouldn't have a problem either way..just asking though. [/ QUOTE ] after i shot him, i heard him fall and started tracking him, where i found him alive.. hutchies
Re: A quick question ?? Because PETA checks sights like this and we would never hear the end of it if they found out. Besides have a little respect for the animal and let him die in peace. I am assuming that you mean like you found it and it is still laying there suffering or do you mean like it walking across a field?
hutchies
Re: A quick question ?? Ok you confirmed my worst thought and think about it this way. If you were a PETA member and you were looking for animal cruelty to demonstrate your point and you found a picture posted on here of a deer with an arrow hanging out and say his head was still up would you use that as evidence? Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Re: A quick question ?? i would have no problem with it if it were on the ground dying....wouldn't be able to tell the difference i don't think...but as for PETA...if they don't like it then they shouldn't be looking at these sites...they are huting sites...there are dead animals shown here all the time....this sight isn't run by PETA....i don't see why we should have to be worried about what we post....tongue sticking out..blood in the back of a truck...who cares....show off your trophy if you want...the majority of us have all experienced all of these things so i don't know why everyone wants to be so careful....hutchies...this is a hunting site...every picture of every dead animal could be used as "evidence".... hutchies
Re: A quick question ?? There is a difference in showing a picture of a dying animal and a dead animal. Surely I am not the only one that thinks Peta would have a field day with this. By the way I have seen the picture and there is no arrow and very little blood. I have no problem with it and I agree to show off your trophy but do you want to be the one of the subjects of their next big demonstrations. I think it is better that we fly under the radar and I think many others agree with me on this subject.
shockwave
Re: A quick question ?? Heres the whole story so everyone will understand. I was standing in my loggy, watching a doe and 2 fawns, When i see a deer my bow automaticly goes between my knees with my release on the string, after watching the doe and fawns for about 20 minutes or so in between my knees started hurting from gripping my bow, and snapping pictures of the does, i also have pics of them but they didn`t turn out how i wanted them to, 15 yards looks like 50 if you know what i mean, disposible cameras don`t take good pictures over 5 feet, so i learned a lesson there..Anyhow i waited til the doe turned her head, and put my bow on toe of my boot, she looked back and noticed something was different about the seen , got real nervous and took her fawns back to the woods, not more than 5 minutes later the buck stepped out of the woods from the same spot the doe went in, i burped at him to stop him, and released my arrow, i hit hid dead behind the shoulder, listened to see if i could hear him fall, not more than 10 seconds after the shot i heard him fall, crawled down my tree, and started tracking him, a blind man could have tracked him, i found him 40 yards away, still sitting up, i took a couple of pics, backed off, gathered my Hoyt and loggy and let him expire..heres the doe pics, they were actually 15 yards from me.. Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Re: A quick question ?? honestly i could care less about there demonstrations or if i am a subject....i have the right to harvest these animals just as they have to right to protest.....i'll post a pic of a deer with an arrow sticking out if i choose to, covered in blood...no problem....i don't see why we should have to "fly under the radar".....if people are so afraid of what they might say then why not quit hunting all together? i'm not saying its ok to post a picture of a deer with blood gushing out and its still walking around....but i'm not going to go to the extra effort to "clean up" a deer before taking a picture of it because of what some people might say
hutchies
Re: A quick question ?? I have said all I am going to say on the subject but there is a place you can put all that kind of stuff you want to do. It's called Archerytalk.com They will accept anything you want to post. I simply think we should hold ourselves to a high standard. I simply don't want to give them anymore reasons to hate us than they already have. MCH
Re: A quick question ?? Here's my problem with the pic: As hunter's, we should respect the animal enough, to end its suffering as soon as possible. Taking a picture of the dying animal would not have even entered my mind. I would have been drawing another arrow and done my best to end his suffering. The pic can stay for now. But the topic was quickly turning south, so keep it clean. vagobbln
Re: A quick question ?? I’m going to have to agree with hutchies and MCH on this one. They are not trying to say don’t be proud of being a hunter and living that lifestyle we all love. But, you have to do it in good taste. Irregardless of any PETA members who may visit the site – what about those who are “on the fence” about hunting or those who simply don’t know what it’s all about. Suppose that lady down the road you’ve been trying to get permission from, who has no understanding of hunting, comes to Realtree to try to educate herself. Is a dying deer the image you want her to see? Do you think that’s going to bring her over to your side of the issue? I doubt it. When we get to the point to where we use means to push our agenda that might be deemed excessive or “in your face” to the non-hunting community, I think we’re cutting off our nose to spite our face. On a personal note, I am a “died in the wool” hunter/outdoorsman. I love every minute of it. But the day that I walk up to a dead or dying deer, turkey or whatever and don’t have some sense of remorse, sadness and respect for that animal, it’s going to be time to do something else.
