JimT
I would not put them where I hunt. Not worth the risk. This buck was not impressed with having his pic taken...Pretty much sums it up to me.
billygoat
Re: trail cameras People say everything scares deer.... guess it just depends on the deer! Sure it might scare one deer, but it also might not bother any. I see buck stand around for 10 minutes (for their photo ops) they don't seem to be moved. browning_gold_12
Re: trail cameras the digital is less likely to scare than the 35 mm. i have had mine on as many as 3 pics per trip, and got pics of the smae deer standing there staring. they are curious by nature. after they get used to it, its nothing more than an acorn hitting the ground or something. just my.02. wtnhunt
Re: trail cameras Really am not so sure anymore. Seems the bucks are avoiding where I have our leaf river cam setup over a mineral site where our stealth cam used to be. The does still are using it some, but not near as much as they did when we had the stealth cam in the same spot. Think maybe the flash is brighter and maybe whiter with the leaf river and they know it is there so they avoid it.

[/ QUOTE ] that does look like that deer was spooked by your camera, hes too far away from it, normally when it spooks them it will get them running away real close to it, i think that deer may have just been running from something, like a hunter maybe, and your camera just caught him....you just never know
Fullfan
Re: trail cameras The story behind that pic is this. He showed up for one pic, did his scrape thing for about 1 min. ( which I have on video) then he ran. I don't know what scared him ?? [image][/image]
Fullfan
Re: trail cameras Oh ya I forgot to mention, about three days after this was taken I had the chance to kill that same buck in the same spot. It did not scare him too bad.
Guest recurve
Re: trail cameras We use them in the areas we hunt and have had great success. But we are using a wireless system (not visiting the cameras) with infrared flash so that may be the biggest difference. If you have to visit the cameras to get your pictures you would have to be careful or you may see the deer either go nocturnal or just leave the area.
