johnf
I have a H&R Ultra Rifle 25-06 with a barely adequate Tasco 3-12 X 50 scope. I would like to get a better scope for it next year. I don't want to spend more than $200. I've got a Nikon Pro Staf 3-9X40 on my 243 and like it a lot. I got it for about $150. I'm thinking about one of the Leupold entry levels, maybe the rifleman or the VX-1 or a Nikon Buckmaster. Anyone got any other suggestions in that range? tedicast
Re: What\'s the best scope for the money? I have to vote for the Bushnell 3200 Elite series. I own a 3 x9 x40 3200 Eite and I love it. Most places have it around $200, but if you shop around, or are an Ebay'er, you can find it cheaper. preacherman
Re: What\'s the best scope for the money? Just bought a Burris Fullfield II 3x9x40 with a free spotting scope from www.natchezss.com for $199 shipped to my door. I have owned a Nikon Buckmaster scope and really, really liked it. Nikon makes good optics.
VTbowman
Re: What\'s the best scope for the money? I for one know its easier said the done, but try like heck to spend as much on a scope as you did the gun. Thats a good way to match quality of each. As for my vote on which scope. I have been interested in the Pentax since I compared them to my Leupold. Try looking at their $150 to $200 scopes. JMO

johnf
Re: What\'s the best scope for the money? I've made the choice of wheather or not to get a new scope for the 25-06 today. I took the gun to my local outfitters to have it bore sighted. The guy there just couldn't get it to sight in. The cross hairs on the scope were not moving correctly when we clicked for elivation and windage. It was moving so irratically that I decided to put the gun in the case and leave it untill next summer when I can afford to get a scope that works. Looks like I'm going to be hunting with the 243 this year.
HuntingInMaine
Re: What\'s the best scope for the money? I am using a Leopold scope and really like it. I prefer open sights, but am using someone else's gun this year and the ease and speed of getting an animal in this scope might have changed my mind... wtnhunt
Re: What\'s the best scope for the money? Would like to eventually put a leupold on my .270 to replace my simmons 44 mag. The simmons scopes are really pretty hard to beat for the money.
RangerClay
Re: What\'s the best scope for the money? I am VERY happy with my Bushnell. They have Baush & Laum optics. Be sure to get a scope with "Fully multi-coated lens". Ranger
Guest 9point
Re: What\'s the best scope for the money? Just picked up A burris fullfield2 for 149.00 at a local dealer. Love the scope. I looked at most of the scopes that are in this post and the fullfield seemed like the best one. Not to bad of a price either. Now I just have to see if she will hold up to the 45-70. Guest gt2003
Re: What\'s the best scope for the money? Don't overlook the Simmons Aetec. It is their top of the line scope, has fully multi coated lenses and a 44 mm objective that gathers a BUNCH of light. Its moderately priced at about 169-179 bucks at bass pro and cabelas I think. Maybe I saw it for 149 at bass pro, not sure. I just picked up a brand new one on ebay for 133 bucks delivered to my door. They're great scopes. I compared price, lenses etc. when I bought my 1st one for my Reminton 700 in 7mm. I never hesitated in buying a second one for my muzzleloader this year. Good luck in finding something you like. superguide
Re: What\'s the best scope for the money? My Leupold is 21 years old the finish is worn off-I've shot dozens of deer, yotes, moose, bear etc and it never moves -awesome scope.
snapper
Re: What\'s the best scope for the money? [ QUOTE ] I would go for the the extra $80-$100 for at least a VX-II on the Leupolds. You can't go wrong. [/ QUOTE ] I agree that you can't go wrong with a Leupold, but I have to ask if you ever did a side-by-side comparison with a Nikon? I have a Leupold Vari XII, 3-9X40 and a Nikon Pro-staff 3-9X40...side-by-side, I can't see a difference (honestly) and the Nikon was almost 1/2 the price (in all fairness the Leupold is brushed alum. and the Nikon isn't) so the price isn't that drastic for the same finishes. I like to buy quailty, but also like saving a buck when I can.
