LifeNRA
I was thinking at work last night, should a tree stand sit level once your at your hunting height? What about a slant either forward or backward? The last few times I was up in a tree I couldnt tell weather the stand was level or not. I actually thought about taking a very small level with me to see if I was level. After last weeks wind storm and being in that tree swaying back and forth, I am just a little concern. Thanks! hutchies
Re: Tree Stand Question? Being Level??? Is it a Loc-on or a climber or ladder stand? I have As long as you are not at a steep angle you should be fine. Wear your safety harness.
AaronS
Re: Tree Stand Question? Being Level??? Level to very slightly leaning towards tree. Never leaning away from tree. Too much lean makes it difficult to keep your balance while standing.
jerdanmagic
Re: Tree Stand Question? Being Level??? Some trees are just not as straight as you want them to be, and that can cause a lean. As long as its not to severe, I really dont think that it matters.
bfletch7441
Re: Tree Stand Question? Being Level??? I wouldn't put a stand up with it leaning away from the tree. I would be scared of losing my balance and falling forwards out of my stand. If it's leaning backwards toward the tree, at least you could maybe grab hold of the tree or a limb if you lost your balance. Either way, alway's wear a safety vest of some sort and be careful. Gator
Re: Tree Stand Question? Being Level??? A climber MUST be at level, or angled slightly to the tree, but NEVER away from a tree, think with loc-ons I don't know
hutchies
Re: Tree Stand Question? Being Level??? The tree I shot my turkey out of had a curve in it about 8 feet off the ground. Climbed right past it and was never uncomfortable.

I hung one bad in a hurry one time that was leaning away a bit, and it was the most uncomfortable sit I ever had. I felt like I was going to slide off my chair and fall forward. My legs got sore real fast from compensating for the lean.
PAbowhunter86
Re: Tree Stand Question? Being Level??? I have a climb and I always try to make it as level as possible. If I cant tell I am leaning than I think it is pretty level.
