Tree Stand Question? Being Level???

I was thinking at work last night, should a tree stand sit level once your at your hunting height? What about a slant either forward or backward? The last few times I was up in a tree I couldnt tell weather the stand was level or not. I actually thought about taking a very small level with me to see if I was level. After last weeks wind storm and being in that tree swaying back and forth, I am just a little concern. Thanks!

Re: Tree Stand Question? Being Level???

I wouldn't put a stand up with it leaning away from the tree. I would be scared of losing my balance and falling forwards out of my stand. If it's leaning backwards toward the tree, at least you could maybe grab hold of the tree or a limb if you lost your balance. Either way, alway's wear a safety vest of some sort and be careful.

Level to very slightly leaning towards tree. Never leaning away from tree. Too much lean makes it difficult to keep your balance while standing.

right 0n !!!!

I hung one bad in a hurry one time that was leaning away a bit, and it was the most uncomfortable sit I ever had. I felt like I was going to slide off my chair and fall forward. My legs got sore real fast from compensating for the lean.
