Squirrelhunter91 Posted October 22, 2005 Report Share Posted October 22, 2005 I went out hunting with my pellet gun and walked up on a bunch of does. Once I saw them, I put down the pellet gun and put my facemask on. They were oblivioius to the fact that I was around. Anyway, I watched them mull around eating acorns and whatever, then one doe made me standing there. She started walking towards me at a steady, but cautious pace... She would look up every now and then, wag her tail and start walking again. To my right, I then heard some chipmunks chirping and leaves rustling around... Then about 30 seconds later, Behind me at about 30 yards a doe and her two fawns come out of a known deer trail. The doe that is approaching me then snorts at me and runs away, going only about 10 yards and stopping. I then snorted back at her and turned around and looked for the other "deer" that snorted at her. The doe that was behind me at that point then put up her tail and jumped up a ridge with her fawns following.. The doe that snorted at me just kept on walking away and met up with the other deer that she walked away from. All in all I saw about 6 doe/fawns, no bucks. But that was so cool. Once the deer were out of my sight, I went home with the satisfaction that I was once again able to outsmart an animal, but she still knew that something was up. How cool is that? I was sitting on a bench on top of a hill looking down into the strubs and trees. Then out of no where i heard some twigs snap. So i look behind me, and guess what? Theres a little doe within 10ft of me. She was snorting and stomping her feet. I then lifted my arm. And within a second she was out of there.
