slugshooter
I must admit, that I was utterly PO'd at NASCAR last year for this whole Chase for the Championship format Nextel came up with, being somewhat of a traditionalist I feel that the championship should be a season long thing instead of a 10 race deal. But......I will admit, that the idea of not knowing who the champ is going to be with 10 races to go, and the fact that with 5 races to go we still don't know who it is going to be, I am gradually becoming "won over." I still feel that the greatest test is a season long format, but, you gotta admit, the year Kenseth won was pretty boring towards the end, and as big of a Gordon fan as I am, I was a little bored when he ran away with it the year he won 13 races. This does add a level of excitement that had been lacking for awhile.

VABuckSlayer
Re: I think The Chase is growing on me. I am too RTF but it's not because of the Chase. I think it's because the racing is getting more boring. The more aero dependent these cars get the less side by side racing you get. It's so hard to pass anymore. I think this Martinsville race will be somewhat boring too. The cars are so close that it will be hard to pass without a little "bumping". We'll see. Plus, I really hate the new "Hollywood" feel it has. They are making NASCAR go big time and that is, in my opinion, what they don't need. Take a look at "NASCAR Nation". That was a good show when Ralph and Krista had the 1 hour show about RACING. Now, it is about where drivers get their hair cut with 3 clowns that know NOTHING about RACING! I think NASCAR is going in a downward spiral to failure. Glad I got so addicted to dirt racing this year.
dg
Re: I think The Chase is growing on me. I liked the chase format from the get-go. I figure TV ratings suffered while Kenseth was so far ahead and pro football kicked off.

[/ QUOTE ] Tell me about it, I have never really watched that show, but earlier this year I had it on just to check it out, I wasn't really watching, doing some other stuff in the room, they were getting ready to go on commercial and the girl on there said, "When we come back we'll go to (insert name) for our fashion report." My fiance was in the room, I think she jumped when I yelled "WHAT!!!", that was enough NASCAR Nation for me. Haven't seen it since, I couldn't even tell you what time it's on. JJL
Re: I think The Chase is growing on me. I believe that if you're going to tell 35 drivers that the last 10 races don't count..........keep them off the track and make it a real race........ If you want to leave them out there............you just admitted that it's all about MONEY......... Nascar just once again put their own ------ up their own -------. but that's racing JJL
