hobie
The PA in line season is only in for a week it started last Saturday and went to this Saturday and you can not hunt on Sunday.I was out every day other then Monday and Thursday due too my mid terms (see other post).I seen a few deer on Wednesday and that was the place I decided to hunt today.Well Terry and I got up a 4 am to go hunting because the three day youth rifle season hunt was in also.We went to this spot and hunted until 10 am in a heck of a rain storm( the port a roof did its job to keep us some what dry)with out seeing a deer.We get home at 11am and Terry and I put a hardwood floor in his room.We get done at 3pm and I ask if he wants to hit the woods and he said " No way am I sitting in the rain and not see anything".I head to the woods at 4pm.It is a half hour ride to the place where we hunt.I start the climb to the top of the mountain and after a half an hour I am almost there.I stop about 50 yards from where my stand is and all of a sudden see three deer coming up the mountain about a 100 yards away.I can not get a shot at them because it is way to thick and it is raining hard and it is very hard to see them threw the brush. The only one I can is a small buck a 4 or 6 point not sure how big and two other deer not sure if they were a bucks or does.I stand there for a few secounds and they take off up the mountain. Then about a minute later a doe comes up about 60 yards out.I go to pull the hammer back and relize I did not put a primer in yet.So I open the action and the deer looks in my direction and I put the primer in and shut the action and the deer takes off up the mountain but it is getting closer by the way the mountain turns.I whistle and stop the deer at 25 or 30 yards up the mountain and it is in some thick briars.I pick a small opening the size of my fist and he walks into it and I touch the shot off and see a cloud of smoke and see the deer take off.I can see him running and then do not see him any more.I go up the mountain to the spot and see good blood sign and walk for about 20 yards and then see the deer dead at 50 yards from where I shot it.This is the first animal I kille d in a year and a half and I was so happy to get that monkey off my back. The pictures are a little blurry due to the heavy rain and me not knopw how to use the timer that well.
