Re: Need to Buy First Deer Rifle

I love my rem 700 30/06. I reload, so I have created some nice deer loads and have throttled down some reloads to make coyote loads. Its very versitile.

If those mentioned for deer, take your pick. All would be fine. For yotes, the .243 would be perfect.

I have a .270 and my son has a .243

Good luck with your choice.

Re: Need to Buy First Deer Rifle

I would not choose a 270 Win or a 30-06 for the game you mentioned. For a deer/coyote combo gun, I would look at the 243 Win, 243 WSSM, 25-06 Remington, or the 25 WSSM. Any of these will kill any deer on this earth as dead as any magnum will (and just as quick). They will also kick a lot less, and be a better choice for coyotes.

I agree. You don't need a huge gun to kill either a coyote or deer. But i own a .270 and .243 and 30.06

When it comes to weapon and cartridge choice advice I'd definately consider what ever AJ has to offer..... wink.gif

I personally use a .30-.06 but would love a .270 bolt... Good luck on your choice and happy -- safe hunting.... wink.gif
