Guest chrispy
30-06 in my opinion. probably one of the best all-around do it all guns ever made.
hobie
Re: Need to Buy First Deer Rifle I like my 270 and if I had to choose out of those three rifles it would without a doubt be a 270 using 140 grain Nosler Blastic tips
Guest ILdeerhunter
Re: Need to Buy First Deer Rifle I love my rem 700 30/06. I reload, so I have created some nice deer loads and have throttled down some reloads to make coyote loads. Its very versitile.
Guest Finn
Re: Need to Buy First Deer Rifle If those mentioned for deer, take your pick. All would be fine. For yotes, the .243 would be perfect. I have a .270 and my son has a .243 Good luck with your choice.
Guest grunt0331
Re: Need to Buy First Deer Rifle .30-06 is the best all around cartridge. If cost is a concern, look at a Savage or Remington 710.
unioncountyslayer
Re: Need to Buy First Deer Rifle A .270 and 30-06 are the flattest shooting rifle barrels I have ever shot. I own one of each.
shockwave
Re: Need to Buy First Deer Rifle look into either a 300 wsm or 270 wsm two excellent choices...
mitrrophybowhunter
Re: Need to Buy First Deer Rifle Everybody LOVES the 06. It is very versitile with all the different loads. I love my 300 WSM though
JimT
Re: Need to Buy First Deer Rifle I would go with the .270 or 30-06.....Cannot go wrong with either.
AJ
Re: Need to Buy First Deer Rifle I would not choose a 270 Win or a 30-06 for the game you mentioned. For a deer/coyote combo gun, I would look at the 243 Win, 243 WSSM, 25-06 Remington, or the 25 WSSM. Any of these will kill any deer on this earth as dead as any magnum will (and just as quick). They will also kick a lot less, and be a better choice for coyotes.
Shaun_300
Re: Need to Buy First Deer Rifle If I was going to buy a gun for deer and yotes I'd go with the .260 Rem, 6mm, or a .25-06.

But i own a .270 and .243 and 30.

I personally use a .30-.06 but would love a .270 bolt... Good luck on your choice and happy -- safe hunting....
wtnhunt
Re: Need to Buy First Deer Rifle Any of the three would work well, but the .243 would be better suited for hunting the coyotes.

MuZZyMomentZ
Re: Need to Buy First Deer Rifle Every deer that I have killed with a rifle has been with my .243. I absolutely love that gun.. has enough power to take down a deer no problem. I find it to be super accurate.. and I have never once had a problem with it. CDubWSR
Re: Need to Buy First Deer Rifle 25-06... its fast, accurate, has a flat trajectory, plenty to kill any deer you will ever see, and wont completely blow the mess out of a coyote.
