Guest MarylandQDMA
My cube neighbor at work, just came up to me and told me that if I discuess hunting one more time, she is going to go complain to are boss, in how it is inapproate talking. damit, free speach! that is why I voted for bush! but for real, she told me that she would complain and have us seprated (all the better if you ask me). I got news though; I'm not moving! I'm not sure what triggered her to throw a fit, (maybe it is that time of the month), all I was doing was talking to a coworker (that I hunt with), about where and when I was going this week end. then he started talking about the butcher shop and how it has been 2 weeks and he is still waiting for his balloni (sp) and susage. what the &$*$# is so affencive about that? WOW does she piss me off! one min. she is nice as can be, the next the devel. I hope a deer runs out in front of her driving home, and *$&% her car up. that is only a matter of time seeing where she lives. F

Nick
Re: NEED TO VENT! Yeah, i would definately be upset too. But I dont think I have anything to worry about since my supervisor is a big time hunter himself and so are alot of the guys I work with. Rhino
Re: NEED TO VENT! Well if your boss is also a hunter I'd sugget you go talk to him about moving her somewhere else. Then I'd go tell her "I saved your the trouble of talking to the boss. I already talked to him about moving you away from us hunters". AaronS
Re: NEED TO VENT! Sounds as if she's an anti-hunter. You may not like or agree with what I have to say about the situation. If hunting is something that she finds offensive you will need to watch what you say around her. There are more forms of harassment that just sexual, and she could argue that this is causing a hostile work environment. You state that you are not moving to a different cubicle. Unless you own the business you work at, your boss will decide who goes and who stays. The fact that she's the one that is offended and that she is female are not in your favor. It would be best to play this smart, choose your fights, and only talk about hunting when away from her cubicle. I know that isn't what you wanted to hear, but trust me. I support (pay for) my hunting obsession with a job as an HR Manager and have done so for 10 years.
Palssonater
Re: NEED TO VENT! Oooo, there is so much ammunition here but I don't think I could discuss it without looking like a chauvanist. I am just glad I work with all guys. huntn4bucks
Re: NEED TO VENT! Welcome to the land of the offended! You could apologize to her by bringing her a nice deer steak...on second thought...just bring her the gut pile!!! If this comment offends you...you get one too!!! Doc
Re: NEED TO VENT! [ QUOTE ] If hunting is something that she finds offensive you will need to watch what you say around her. There are more forms of harassment that just sexual, and she could argue that this is causing a hostile work environment. [/ QUOTE ] Sorry, but I have to agree with this quote. If you are looking for fairness and justice in the workplace, just remember that businesses are not a Democracy. Laws and company policies are not necessary on your side in this case. There may be other considerations in your situation that I am not aware of such as a dyed-in-the-wool hunting boss, or something, but under normal circumstances of normal business environments, this is a fight you cannot win and could escalate into a situation that could impact your livelihood. It may not be right, but it's just the way life in the new millenium is. Doc
VermontHunter
Re: NEED TO VENT! Had the same problem at work myself last season...she went to my supervisor to complain ( the supervisor being female if thats not ironic in itself ) LOL...and told her she was tired of hunting being disscussed at work and the supervisor asked her why she was eves dropping on other peoples disscusions....and that she should more concerned with the personal calls she was getting and making. that pretty much ended it right there on the spot.... who would have thought.. Swamphunter
Re: NEED TO VENT! Id ignore her and speak about what I wanted. If it offends her let her run to the boss and if he's reasonable and your conversation with the co-worker was not out of line...you should be alright... should! Maybe he's an anti also though!
