Delaware to hire sharpshooters

I just read in the delaware state news that delaware is going to pay somewhere around $10,000 to hire sharpshooters to come in and shoot around 600 deer in feb or march.it seems they think this is the answer to our growing deer herd.i think making the season longer and allowing sunday hunting would help.i can only hunt on saturdays because of my work and i would love to hunt on sunday.i for one am going to look into this and see what can be done.i really would like to hear from all you fellow hunters on this issue.

Re: Delaware to hire sharpshooters

I feel you pain, brain. Same thing happend in CT last year. They hired sharpshooters to thin the deer herd in one area of the state. The final total was that it cost almost $1000 per deer killed between hiring the sharpshooters, the extra police that were required to keep the park clear, andsome other things that I can't recall. They were only able to kill about 10% of the original quota they wanted to kill. We can't hunt Sundays in CT either, and this happened in an area with no public access to hunting.

NOT THIS AGAIN !! Man this stuff is nuts if you ask me..... crazy.gifcrazy.gif

Why dump all of this taxpayer money into something that has be proven time and time again doesn't work....

They should let the hunting the population take care of this type of situation, I feel they are more qualified, and are more ethical about taking a animal... Besides the city could be making some money on this deal with license fee's, instead of spending the hard earned taxpayers money !!
