intelligence, so you might as well forget about it bud. wink.gif

Seriously though, I think all you really have to do, is get high quality video of you taking large bucks. I've heard you can sell them to hunting shows, and if you do it enough times, and make a name for yourself, you'll eventually get sponsorship etc...

They just had an episode of this on RealTree outdoors this past weekend. Tom Miranda was talking about his show he has on ESPN and the group of Professionals he has on there. He talked about the search they did to find another person to be on the show and how many resumes they got. It was something like 6000 or so and most had videos of them hunting etc. They picked some guy out of Nashville to join the team.

So I don't know what it takes besides luck and experience. Both of which I don't have.

never grin.gif I was simply saying, someone could hunt such areas, if they could climb into those deer pens err... "ranches". Otherwise you're gonna need those deep pockets or a camera crew to get through the gates;)

Re: What does it take to become a..........

Not to stir the bee's nest, but seeing some of these shows out there, not all of them, but the majority are hunting in areas where monster bucks are, so location is key, they know monsters are there so they hunt them. They have the ability to travel to locations to hunt these big boys in exchange for TV time for the outfitter.

What gets me is the bucks they are able to see and capture on film. 2 guys up in a tree and the biggest buck you can ever imagine comes out at 20 yards. I guess the shows wouldn't be interesting if they had to hunt the same piece of land like most of us do and just wait till the big buck shows or as most times he does not show up till after dark.

Alot of becoming a professional is getting into big buck areas, having contacts, carrying yourself well meaning a good personality, and being a good sportsman. Most pros have good people skills and are keen to learn and listen and aren't afraid to travel around and try new areas and ask strangers for permission to hunt their land.

Why do we like to watch these shows, its because the "pros" draw us in with their personalities and the ability to keep our interest and make us mock their tactics.

Yep Lou you are right but having a 20 foot fence sure help to keep that big boy where you want him too. I am not saying all shows do this but I believe alot more shows do it than people realize. Set anyone up on a monster. Hit or miss people will remember their faces and the fact that the person they saw on TV saw a monster.
