Oklahoma muzzle loader buck

I finally had a deer give me a shot, so I took it. I hunted hard all day Saturday, the opening day of Oklahoma muzzle loader season. Had a few does come through in the morning, but it was still too early and they stayed in the trees so I wasn't able to take a shot. I changed stands for the afternoon and got in the tree around 1:00. The deer were on the move early, and I had a group of 4 does coming and going through the area for about an hour and a half, but none of them presented a shot. Fast forward to 5:30. I'd been blowing on the grunt tube every 15-30 minutes or so since I got in the stand, and I finally had something respond. This dude came running in and stopped just inside the trees about 15 yards away exactly where I was hoping the deer would come from. He finally stepped out of the trees and I let him have it. He made it about 30 yards and piled up under a fallen oak tree. He had 7 points and weighed in at 125 pounds field dressed. I was cutting and grinding meat until 11:00 at night, but he's finally in the freezer. Good luck to everyone.

Here's me with the boss of the family, hopefully she'll head out with me in a few years.

Re: Oklahoma muzzle loader buck

congrats - that double-white throat patch is nice, hope you kept the hide - a lot of taxidermists (at least when it comes to mulies) will pay for a nice double-white throat patch like that - depending on your situation, that would be a nice buck to do a head mount on, the throat patch and the coloring are really nice
