PAbowhunter86
Does anyone thing it is pre rut? I saw a nice buck following a few does really close and I have also noticed alot of rubs and scrapes lately. Does this mean pre rut?
huntinsonovagun
Re: Pre Rut Yet? Hmmm....the rut is coming up soon, therefore, I come to the conclusion that this is indeed the pre-rut. (I'm going to apologize now.....seems as though I offend someone whenever I reply, so I'm apologizing now....sorry.)

MrWiggely
Re: Pre Rut Yet? Pre rut is starting a little here in western NY. Scrapes are popping up, young bucks are dogging the does a bit. I think things are going to heat up a little more next week. Full rut hits around the second weeked in Nov. So the end of Oct and first bit of Nov. are my favorite times. to be out there. Get ready. Wigs
huntrman
Re: Pre Rut Yet? I think pre-rut has started here in Indiana a little bit. Have seen a few little bucks "interested". Hang on, buckle your seat belts, the action is about to get good.
bulldawg
Re: Pre Rut Yet? Yes, it is pre-rut. I haven't seen any chasing going on yet. The son had a big non-typical come in to scent the other day. It was all by it's self, looking for a gal to play with. 10 yards, broadside, and it was his first shot ever at a deer with a bow; he choked up and missed the big boy completely... I coached him on not looking at the rack so much. It apparantly had 2 droptines. Why can't I get that lucky
jbeck
Re: Pre Rut Yet? Jim said on saturday he heard a buck grunting his full head off. He is quite a successful hunter, and he said this young buck was nuts. Looks like things are getting geared up. Everyone stay safe, and get out there next week. I look forward to seeing the pics. Tominator
Re: Pre Rut Yet? Hmmmm, yeah, I think so, or maybe pre-pre-rut. No chasing yet, but rubs and scrapes are increasing around us.
maytom
Re: Pre Rut Yet? I just got back from camp yesterday, from hunting since last friday. NO sign of any rutting activity as yet in my neck of the woods. The does are still together with their fawns. After Halloween, things should start to pick up!! puffy
Re: Pre Rut Yet? Lots of scrapes and rub lines but no chasing and few answering to the light tickle of horns as yet. Grunting has produced some smaller bucks but no monsters. The best is yet to come!
VTbowman
Re: Pre Rut Yet? Not here in VT. At least on my property. Last weekend I have 7 deer in my field at 50 yards. 4 bucks (1 being a button that was with the does) and 3 doe. All hanging out together and not doing anything rut related in my eyes. Just eating a wandering around. The bucks still seem to be in bachelor groups on my property.
