Shaun_300
Re: HEVI 13 broke the record One of the service advisors at work said he tried some of that stuff out, he dropped a Canada Goose stone dead at 50 yards! It seems to be some REALLY good ammo. It sure has a big pricetag though....
HeviShot
Re: HEVI 13 broke the record The regular Remington Hevishot shells are around 21 dollars a box.I haven't seen any of the other yet.I would not use it for duck or goose where you have mutiple shot's and use alot.I only use it for turkey's.Our limit is 3 tom's so a box will last awhile. maytom
Re: HEVI 13 broke the record Now that Nitro, Remington, Winchester, and Federal are now making shells using this type of shot, hopefully this will drive the cost down per box. This has been the 4th season while using this ammo, and it really does hit harder than lead!!!
borch
Re: HEVI 13 broke the record The Hevi 13 is a bit different than the others though. It really thrives on being shot out of tight chokes. I know guys who are getting unreal reasults with this stuff in chokes as tight as .640 in a standard bored gun. Although many of those patterns were too tight for hunting situations. Most settled in on .655 or so for hunting to open the pattern up a bit. HeviShot
Re: HEVI 13 broke the record The hevishot seems to like a little more of a open choke.I'm using a undertaker and getting good results.I'm thinking about trying a higher dollar choke to see if there is a difference. Bow Hunter Derek
Re: HEVI 13 broke the record I've found that the Hevi turkey loads seem to be much more subjective to the gun/choke combo than the duck & goose loads. I've got a Rhino tube on my 870 and can not get the Remington Hevi's to pattern well at all in any shot or shell size, so I've stuck with the Winchester Supremes for now. Each year I threaten I'm going to contact Nitro for some shells as these seem to be made focussing around the Rhino tube. I might go that direction this next spring. I'm interested in trying out the new Hevi 13 loads. I'll have to pick up a box this next spring. I thought I read that Remington was officially out of the Hevi market as of a couple months ago and what remained in inventory was it. Something about the licensing deal running out or something and they were going to explore their own matrix type of load like Federal and Winchester. I could be wrong though. Anyone know anymore about this?
hutchies
Re: HEVI 13 broke the record Don't know. I shoot 3.5 inch winchester supreme #4 shot and it does the trick everytime.
