Tominator
Re: Best climbing stands for the money. I have two climbers. An API bowhunter and a Summit Cobra. Both have their advantages, but over all, I like the Summit better. It's very comfortable, and I can sit in it as long as my bladder holds out. hutchies
Re: Best climbing stands for the money. Summit!!!! I have sat in mine for 6 hours a day and only got up twice to stretch. I have never sat in another stand that is that comfortable.

JimT
Re: Best climbing stands for the money. I always take my Summit over my API Bowhunter and Treelounge while bowhunting. The API is ok, and the TreeLounge really shines gun hunting, but for bow, I love my X4.

maytom
Re: Best climbing stands for the money. I'm seriously thinking of going with a Summit climber as well. Do you like that front bar on the Viper X5 and the Goliath X5, or do you like the Bushmaster without the front bar? Trying to decide between the two!! I want to order one shortly!! Thanks. Guest DaveGP
Re: Best climbing stands for the money. i have the summit viper.... i love it but for bowhunting you cannot really take sitting shots... i really like the new convertible stand summit makes. you can have the bar across the front to climb and then it folds down into a foot rest or keep it up if you like! dave
mo_hunter
Re: Best climbing stands for the money. I would also say SUMMIT
maytom
Re: Best climbing stands for the money. [ QUOTE ] Mine has the front bar being that its the viper series. Sometimes its nice when you have a heavy backpack on for climbing. I ussually dont use it when I climb however. The thing that I do like about the front bar is when Im in the stand I kind of lift my feet up and wedge my knee into the bar and its very very comfy. I kind of wish I had a lighterweight one because 21 pounds is plenty when your going up hill. My main prob is I wear a backpack when I hunt to carry my stuff in, and its a real pain in the you know what to put the stand over your backpack, makes you darn near tip over backwards. That would be a prob no matter which stand you have, so cant blame summit for that one. [/ QUOTE ] Wouldn't it be much easier to strap your back-pak to the stand first then place the stand over your shoulders? I always hunt with a back-pak as well, and that's the way I'd do it. My two cents.
Pinwheel5
Re: Best climbing stands for the money. I have used the Lone Wolf sit-n-climb for two years now and can't see ever wanting a different stand. A friend of mine that has a Summit Viper wanted to try mine out so I switched with him for an evening hunt. I will never again use a summit. It was comfortable but it had better be after lugging that monster through the woods. The next day my friend bought a Lone Wolf and sold his Viper a few days later. fenderhunt4
Re: Best climbing stands for the money. I prefer the Lone Wolf. I like that I've never experienced any squeak from it, since it's platform is all one piece.
double_drop
Re: Best climbing stands for the money. I bought a climber at wal mart 3 years ago and I like it alot. It weighs 32 lbs. ya it is a little bit heavier than most but i still hike with it a mile or so in the woods. To be 5 to 8 pounds doesn't make a difference. I paid a fraction of the cost of the high dollar ones. I know i wrote a check for about 115 for it. works just as well and super comfortable.
