coles
guys yall will never believe this. 14 of us met up at Harrison basin at about 7:30. we drove up to the end and there was nothing in there so we drove back but we knew they were around. we hiked up the ridge because they were on the other side of the ridge. the people who were pushing them to us and started shooting. 3 of them got bulls with one being a huge 6 point. well about 5 mins later they ran down the hill about 400 yards away and just stood there because they didnt know where to go. my brother shot a little raghorn and the 2 other guys with us shot 2 cows. they walked within 200 yards of us and my dad and i both shot 6 point bulls and they ran past us around the hill. Uncle James and Larry chased them on foot and got close enough and Uncle James shot a spike and Larry shot a cow. all together 11 out of 14 people got an elk with 8 being bulls and 3 cows. out of the 8 bulls 4 were 6 points, 2 were 5 points 1 3 point raghorn and 1 spike. it was a great day and probably will never happen again. just incase guys there was no illegal activity such as chasing them with trucks/ 4wheelers, shooting for other people , etc. there is already people talking around town about stuff like that. we are ethical hunters. just wanted to point that out so there is no assuming. ill post pics of my dads, brothers and mine as soon as my mom gets them in the computer. Dakota
Re: had some luck with the elk!!! That sounds like an AWESOME hunt! I live in SD and you can only get one tag per season per ten years (if you drew an archery tag you can't draw another one for ten years, but you can draw a rifle tag).
