VTbowman
Outside the obvious replies of "Get a Double Bull" can anyone suggest an affordable pop up ground blind that has a spacious diameter? The AmeriStep DogHouse I had is plenty tall enough but lacks the diameter for drawing a tradition bow.
AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Affordable ground blind that has a large diameter? What about that one Hunter's Specialties makes, its a tent type blind and seems rather tall and wide. Not sure of the name of it though. I have seen it under $100.00!! May or may not be what your are looking for. Maybe look through the Cabela's book for ideas and possible dimensions!!
Chrud
Re: Affordable ground blind that has a large diameter? Ameristep Brickhouse TSC in Advantage MAX-4 HD. I got mine on sale from BPS for $120. It is 60" square on the bottom, like the Doghouse. But, the hubs add at least 12" to each side in the center. So, the middle is probably about 84" from one side to the other in the middle. I've had deer within feet of mine, without using the TSC windows. Awesome blind! hutchies
Re: Affordable ground blind that has a large diameter? You can get the Brickhouse TSC everyday at Wal Mart for $120 in Mossy Oak Breakup. I have one and they are nice. Shoot thru windows included and big enough to fit a few people in there. VTbowman
Re: Affordable ground blind that has a large diameter? THat brickhouse may work for me since its the mid wall that my elbow hits on full draw.
Chrud
Re: Affordable ground blind that has a large diameter? [ QUOTE ] Mossy Oak Breakup [/ QUOTE ] Well, there is your problem right there. Just kiddin. A good idea is to wear a black shirt while inside it. The interrior is black. I wear a camo jacket to the blind, but then take it off when I get there. The doe that came in last weekend looked right at me and had no idea I was there. Just try to keep the windows behind you closed.
Chrud
Re: Affordable ground blind that has a large diameter? Also, the Brickhouse is still 60" square at the top. The Doghouse leans in about 12" or better from the bottom to the top. So at sitting level, the DH is actually less than 60" square.
Bow Hunter Derek
Re: Affordable ground blind that has a large diameter? VTbowman
Re: Affordable ground blind that has a large diameter? Yea I know this to be true. I have to sit dead center of the blind, risking being skylines threw the windows, stick all of my arrow out whatever window I am shooting threw and at full draw my elbows is barely missing the back wall. The DH is just to small for bow IMO.

huntrman
Re: Affordable ground blind that has a large diameter? Well after calling numerous places in search of the Ameristep Brickhouse TSC, I decided to taka a trip to the local Rural King. Not sure if anyone has heard of it, but I went looking for blinds and some other stuff. After calling around for the Ameristep, I had my mind set on the Hunters View Hunters Den model, which is pretty close to the same as the Ameristep. Upon walking in I saw another blind set up that looked a little better than the Hunters View. It is made by Ground Max I believe. It is The Escape model. Dimensions for this blind are 60" x 60" x 62" tall. It is pretty much exactly like the Brickhouse, except you don't get the leafy stuff, the windows are a different shape, but all in all it was worth the $80 I paid for it. They had a bigger model too, which was $120, but after setting up this one, I found that I could pull my bow back easily inside this one. Plenty of room for 1-2 hunters. So I just thought I would pass this along.
robk
Re: Affordable ground blind that has a large diameter? i used to say that too about the double bull but in two hunts i hunted out of the matrix from double bull and man i hate to say this but most companies can't hold up to the double bull blinds. the ameristep blinds are okay but over all performance of the matrix is unbelievable man.i likethe 360 degrees of veiwing and you can make it happen with shooting thru the mesh and a black shirt or jacket and some kind of face mask or camo paint and go for it. when i shot thru the mesh there was no problems and they were not tight but just laid over the area where it was holding you and the rest of my crew and we got along great inside. if you have a dealer close by just go sit in the blind and you will see what i mean. also with a double bull you can actually move the piece of cloth that is ocvering your back side and you can open and close it without being detected. i am not trying to be a pain in the butt but he double bull is out of this world man and worth the 400 bucks it costs to have and will last for years the way ir is put together. the ameristep is a good blind and we owned ne and we left it out in the rain and other weather and it ruined the blind but with the double bulls you don't have to worry about it. it will outlast the weather. dad and i are getting one here pretty quick my friend and it iwll be our number one blind rob k
VTbowman
Re: Affordable ground blind that has a large diameter? I hunted with Josh (vtbowhunter) last spring out of his Double Bull and I musat admit it was awesome. But the price is just to much to afford for this man. Hutch found me a great deal on one of those Ground Max Escape DX blind for $100 (shipped) and I grabbed it. Thanks to all for the replies! tallone
Re: Affordable ground blind that has a large diameter? I have the ameristep penthouse and with me being 6'6" I can draw my bow with no problem. One trick I did was to set the blind up at home and spray it with thompson's water seal and let it dry for a few days, it helps make the fabric last longer along with helping with waterproofing and scent control but you have to let it dry for a few days to let the smell out. One thing though it will darken the color some.
huntrman
Re: Affordable ground blind that has a large diame Well I just ordered the Brickhouse TSC off Basspro for a steep $168. I hope it's worth it. I will let you know.
huntrman
Re: Affordable ground blind that has a large diame Got my Brickhouse TSC the other day, immediately set it up on the porch and immediately knew it was worth the money. Climbed in that bad boy and it is considerably bigger than my other hub style blind. The material used is a lot better too. This thing is going to be a blast to hunt out of next weekend for shotgun. I will post a pic of mine sometime soon, so you can see what it looks like in Hardwoods Green HD.
BowJoe
Re: Affordable ground blind that has a large diame I have the blind for you. I bought a Roundhouse 360 from ameristep. I am selling it at cost plus shipping. I bought it for $125 and have never hunted out of it. I threw the box away but still have the pack and all plus I'll throw in some new ground stakes since the originals are too small and useless. It also has all of the see through scent proof plastic window covers and a zip in floor. This thing is on the web site for Ameristep. It's 80" across and 76" tall. I could hunt me and 2 other buddies comfortably. Contact me if you are interested. by the way, I didn't set out to turn this into a classified ad just trying to help. Guest mnarcher
Re: Affordable ground blind that has a large diame Well I hunted out of my Brickhouse twice so far. It is a great blind for the money. It didn't take all of 2 minutes to get it all setup and ready. I took my 9 yr old son out with me in it and there was tons of room for the both of us.
