Rut forecast????

Does anybody know where I can see a "rut forecast". Or, when is the peak of the rut predicted to happen? Usually the second full moon after the fall equinox. That would put the peakof the rut, the full moon in november, around novemeber 17th?

I have to put in for my time off and I want to plan accordingly.

Any info would be appreciated!!!!!--Rossman

Re: Rut forecast????

[ QUOTE ]

November 16th is full moon so heavy midday movement on that day. Honestly I like the first 3 weeks of November. Some key days to make sure your in the woods:

November 2nd: New Moon, Deer should be active early and late in the day.

November 8th: Peek of the seek-chase phase. Does hormone levels get elevated and they start to move around more causing more estrous scent in the air attracting bucks. This day you should spend all day out if possible.

November 16th: Full moon means midday movement. Don't bother with dawn and dusk hunts.

November 19th: Hunt hard this day and get to your stand early due to weekend warriors. Hunt well covered thick areas today and be stealthy, they are on to us now.

November 25th: Moon is in its last quarter, like now. This encourages deer to move more during the day.

I may be wrong but i thought, it vary`s by region ??

I picked up a GON magazine the other day at bass pro shop and it had a map showing the peak of the rut for the different counties so u might be able to find out through something like that. It says that were i hunt the peak is in mid-november, but on opening morning i saw a spike and a 6 pointer chasing does so i believe the rut is already starting.

Do you know what it says for New York or the North East part of the Country?

Re: Rut forecast????

the november issue of field and stream has some good stuff in it about the rut. Explains every phase from pre rut to post rut and explains some possible tactics.
