Jeramie
I shot a doe Saturday morning but never found a drop of blood. That made me doubt that I hit her at all but it was only around 40-yards. When I mounted the scope and sighted the rifle it wasnt what I would consider accurate. It had me worried but it was very windy so I hoped it was me. We have some public land south of the office about 5-7 minutes. I decided to head out there and try again and see how accurate I was. I started off at about 30-yards to make sure I was on my mark. Dead center, 3-4" high. I shot twice to be sure. Same result. I then stepped back to roughly 50 yards. Center and slightly off at about 2-3" high. My brother had bought some Hornady sabots (240grn) so I put in one and shot from the same distance. Dead center, just a little high. I was happy to see that but sad that I lost the doe. I hit her hard but for whatever reason never found blood. I then reloaded and just walked until I though I was pushing the shot. Its public land and it rolls and has knolls, etc. I used and old reed to turn my mono-pod into a bi-pod. One shot and headed that way. I was just a little high but easily inside the 6" ring (Using the hornady)! One more shot using a TC mag sabot and I couldnt find another hole. I was shooting against a large piece of cardboard and it had no new holes! I double punched one of the earlier holes. As this point I broke out my range finder and it was 98 yards. Oh yeah, im happy with that! About the setup: 120grn of Loose Pyrodex 240grn TC Mag Sabots 240grn Hornady Sabots Cheap Bushnell 3x9x32 Sportview. It will get the job done. I need to pic up some more sabots, probably the Hornady. They shot a little better and loaded twice as easy. Ill shoot some more after I restock my supply. Ill let you know how it goes. ousoonerfan22
Re: CVA Wolf proving accurate. From what I've been reading here it appears the loose powder seems to shoot tighter groups than the pellets?Or is Pyrodex just better than the 777?
