ODH
Myself and a few friends will be hunting some private land in Bedford county. It's on my great uncles property. We'll be going next deer season. I was wondering if anyone knows how many deer are taken in that county. Also if any knows any trophy deer that are taken around there. thanks
TreeStandBowHunter
Re: Pennsylvania hunters? Oh this is my hunting turf. I hunt a private farm as well in Southern Bedford Co near Colerain. I am always successful there. I usually fill all 3-4 deer tags each year. I always get my buck out there and last year I had 3 doe tags (1 regular, 1 bonus and 1 DMAP tag). From my perspective where I hunt, the deer are in abundance there. Too many if you ask me but that's on this guys land. The same may not be true for where your going. But I think in general, Bedford Co has a lot of deer. Trophy deer? Not likey. There are big deer there but am unsure of what you call a trophy. I got a nice 8 point last year and my Brother-In-Law pulled a nice big 10 point out of the same stand the year before. The problem is, unless the land/farm is managed, you won't find buck usually over 3 yrs old...usually . That's not saying that there isin't. Most farms in that area have a lot of crop damage so most farmers are just worried about getting some of the deer population down and not worried about hunters wanting to shoot "trophy deer". It also depends on what you call a "trophy" also. The 8 point I got last year was a trophy to me. But to some "steller" hunters in here, they would frown on that deer I shot last year.
