AaronS
I'm wanting to make the tree rope/prussic knot like SOP now has with their harnesses. I have an older SOP that didn't come with it, so I want to make my own. Has anyone seen a convenient place to buy black or dark rope in small quantities? For someone with the SOP, what is the diameter of your tree rope?
dogdoc
Re: Safety harness rope the rope/teather that goes around the tree is 1/2 inch diamter---the prussic knot part is a little smaller. Have you tried Home Depot or Lowes? The usually sell rope by the foot. A lot of farm supply stores will also have rope but I don't think they sell it in smaller quantities. todd
tedicast
Re: Safety harness rope You can buy the new style rope with the prussic knot from Summit for $12. Well worth it to know it is the proper type of rope, proper strength etc..... SOP rope w/prussic knot
wtnhunt
Re: Safety harness rope Lowes has rope where you can cut it to the length you want. Also have to agree with tedicast. No more than it costs to buy, it is worth it to know it is right.
AaronS
Re: Safety harness rope Thanks guys, I didn't realize it was only $12. I thought I saw a post a few months ago that said the rope was around $30 which was why I was going to make one. For $12 I agree that it's worth just buying it already made. HarvDog
Re: Safety harness rope I didn't realize it was only $12 either. I was thinking about making my own as well but now I'll just order it. Thanks.
AaronS
Re: Safety harness rope Good news....I called one of the local shops here that sells Summit accessories and he has one in stock....for $10. They're holding it back for me.
Mach1
Re: Safety harness rope Are these ropes the ones that you put around the tree and clip your safety harness to? I've been wanting to get a rope that I can loop through itself and hook up to because it's much easier than the strap that comes with the Hunter's Safety System. That's what I thought it did, but wanted to make sure before I bought one for myself.
