Safety harness rope

I'm wanting to make the tree rope/prussic knot like SOP now has with their harnesses. I have an older SOP that didn't come with it, so I want to make my own. Has anyone seen a convenient place to buy black or dark rope in small quantities? For someone with the SOP, what is the diameter of your tree rope?

Re: Safety harness rope

the rope/teather that goes around the tree is 1/2 inch diamter---the prussic knot part is a little smaller. Have you tried Home Depot or Lowes? The usually sell rope by the foot.

A lot of farm supply stores will also have rope but I don't think they sell it in smaller quantities.

Are these ropes the ones that you put around the tree and clip your safety harness to? I've been wanting to get a rope that I can loop through itself and hook up to because it's much easier than the strap that comes with the Hunter's Safety System.

These rope loops around the tree, and there is a sliding prussic knot to hook your harness too.

Thanks. That's what I thought it did, but wanted to make sure before I bought one for myself.
