Re: Passed it!

One of the gifts of my genetic malady is out of whack parathyroid glands that put too much calcium in my bloodstream out of whack, so yeah, I've had a few, and yep, they hurt. Out of all the pain I've been through in my life, a distended kidney is the most painful.

Most people think the passing of the stone is what hurts, but that's not true, the actual passing doesn't hurt at all. What hurts is when the stone blocks the urine from going down to the bladder, thus swelling the kidney, now that hurts. crazy.giffrown.gif

The biggest one I've passed was probably 1/4" by 1/8". The other ones were about the size of a grain of rice. I had lithotripsy once and a week or two after that I was passing "sand" continually.

Re: Passed it!

My mother knows of a preacher here in GA that suffered with them most of his adult life. He had an attack while driving and managed to get his truck stopped. He got out and accidentally stumbled in front of a dump truck!

My Father in law had them and he was the toughest son of a gun I know. We took him to the hospital and he was down in the floor board delerious, babbling about nonsense.

I pray I never had them.
