Guest TheDanishDanger
Hey everyone, I am close to buying a digital camcorder for recording our hunts. My price range is $400 and less. I've been looking at the handycam 480. it looks pretty good, any suggestions of what everyone else uses to record your hunts would really help with my decision. Thanks!!! Bond
Re: Help Buying Video Camcorder for Taping Hunts I'd like some input on this topic too. I guess what I've been looking for is a long optical zoom. And nightshot is always cool for any camcorder.
BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: Help Buying Video Camcorder for Taping Hunts For the price range you are looking at you probably should look at the Sony Hi8 or Digital 8 cameras they are right around your price range and they have Night vision plus you can get acessories for them like wied angle lense and boom mics and the sort. If you are looking at going full bore here is a very nice package that I am looking at Camera This setup is similar to the package the Drury brothers use and recomend. Not a bad price concidering what you get and you wouldnt need another setup.

wishinone
Re: Help Buying Video Camcorder for Taping Hunts Try to save a bit more money and get you camera for next years hunts, you will want a mini-DV camera, Canon carries some decent ones with a 20X lens. Bowtech shop around a bit for that camera package, I think you will find a better price.

billkay
Re: Help Buying Video Camcorder for Taping Hunts I've been looking at the Panasonics and JVC's myself. Around $350 with 20-25X zoom. They're both mini dv's. I really like the live slow-mo feature.

ksdeerhunter03
Re: Help Buying Video Camcorder for Taping Hunts Guys and Gals, I do video and photography for a living, and you will want to get a Mini-DV format. This is going to be the best for 99% of those on this board. It is easier to take it to the comp for editing, and you can get a true 24fps for not much money. I shoot Canon and Panasonic. The Canon 'pocket' size cameras pack a lot of punch for the money. The Panasonics I use are the AG-DVX100A's and I have wireless mic packs etc for them, they are expensive but awesome. Just my 2 cents.
