Turkeygirl
I don't know if I've lost that "turkey touch" or what but things just waren't going well for me. the turkey population is down compared to what it was when I first started hunting, but of the turkeys I do know exist, I can't find them! I was out last night and slowly walked through the woods, calling once in a while and lookinf for sign...nothing. so I know where they aren't right now and I can't believe they haven't been in that field they usually are in. do you think the turkeys just found a different food source or something? I won't get home until after 5pm tonight but I will probably go out to a part of the woods which are thick hemlocks, and see if they are maybe hanging out in there.... maytom
Re: Darn turkeys.... With the bow season for deer going on right now, I won't be out for Fall birds. Hang in there, Fall hunting is different than spring.
Squirrelhunter91
Re: Darn turkeys.... My dad and I had a similiar experience this year in the fall. We searched the mountaions on the quad for the birds, nothing. But then we went to another property we have permission to be on, a buddy of ours farm and that's where the bird are. They go through a ridge on his property every day looking for acorns and beechnuts he has on the ridge. They probably found a reliable food source.
