dogdoc
Re: Fake Rattling Horns i've used it all---a rattling box, real antlers, fake antlers, and the bag. I can't really tell a difference between the fake antlers and the real antlers.
Guest kk9fan
Re: Fake Rattling Horns That's a good question. I have a rattle bag. And I can't seem to get any attention from it. i have had it for 2 yrs. now. Is it just too early to use it or am I useing it wrong?

I have the bag and I have not been able to get anything to come in with it. I have had friends that have had success with the fake antlers as well as the real ones. I think the size of them make the difference plus you can use them on trees and brush which you can't on a bag. I saw some at cabela's that look pretty nice and it comes with a grunt call (which I don't need any more of).
6sixpoint_nobrows
Re: Fake Rattling Horns i think that the fake like plastic antlers are junk, but of coarse i have never used them hunting, but i rattled around with them and i dont think they sound the same, i use h.s heavy horns, ganna bust em out this weekend

Of late, I mostly settled on using a rattle bag, mainly because it stores inside my back pak better than a set of real or fake antlers. Also, you don't bust up your hands while working it, like with a real or fake set of antlers.

Those bucks are probably going to come to anything that sounds like horns clashing, whether they be made of plastic, wood, or the real thing. AdvantageTimberLou
Re: Fake Rattling Horns I have both, fake and bag, I prefer the bag for convienence but I like the fake ones for scrapping against the tree in hope of adding more realism. Deer are curious, who knows what they might come to investigate. Who was the guy on here saying he was playing "yankee doodle dandy" on his grunt tube and had a buck coming looking to see what was up. That was funny!! brain
Re: Fake Rattling Horns i was talking to a guy i work with about this and he said he only uses real antlers because he used fake ones once and he called in a decoy.what an idiot funny though
Tony
Re: Fake Rattling Horns i also have tried them all. but i will say that there is a huge differance between real horns and the fake ones and the rattle bags. at least i can tell the differance big time. now im not sure a buck can tell the differance but i know i can . its in the way i rattle , i just can tell the differance in the depth of the sound . the one thing about a big real set is that you can just go light with them and they are good for early season , but when you really get rocking they carry for a ways. i find the are a pain in the butt to carry , they are just as important to me as a grunt tube or my bow. heres my set that i have , they are not from the same buck.. Guest bigbuckmiddaugh
Re: Fake Rattling Horns Save your money and buy some real horns! That way you can bang them HARD They are little more pain in butt to carry, but well worth it. Those fake ones can't take the abuse real ones can. LOL, i broke the fake horns lmao One good hit, i had a tine off. Rattle box: not a good sound Rattle bag: better sound, Not loud enough Fake horns: Weak and sound is so..so...
