EKYhunter
Are the Encore rifle, pistol, and muzzleloader frames the same? I was wondering if I can put pistol barrels on my 209X50 frame. Thanks.
hangunnr
Re: Encore Frame Question Here is the direct response from the Feds regarding the T/C Encore / Contender frames. Thanks to the Handgun Hunter website for this info. To break this down to nuts and bolts..... If your frame was originally sold as a handgun you may convert it to a rifle or a shotgun. If your frame was originally sold as a centerfire rifle / muzzle loader or shotgun you may not convert it to a handgun. Seems kinda silly if you ask me but unfortunately the Feds didn't consult me before making their ruling..... If I were in the market for another Encore or Contender I would purchase the firearm as a handgun and avoid the potential confusion down the road. hangunnr

VTbowman
Re: Encore Frame Question I realize this is an old post but other then all the legal mumbo-jumbo, can it be done? Fit and finish-wise? IE: I buy a Encore pistol in 7mm.08 and down the road I buy a 209x50 ML full lenght barrle, shoulder stock, and forearm. Will it all fit together and work? I think thats the whole selling point to the Encore line of firearms, and it will work, but not 100% sure. Thanks
AJ
Re: Encore Frame Question Yes, physically they are all the same. Its a "what did it start out as" problem. As long as it starts out as a handgun, you can do anything with it. If it starts out as a rifle, shotgun, or ML, it can not legally become a handgun, without a lot of red tape. Physically, just slap on anothere barrel, and change stocks and you are good to go. Except for using a rifle buttstock with a rifle barrel shorter than 16" or a shotgun barrel shorter than 18, they are also felonys.

WNY_Whitetailer
Re: Encore Frame Question It is really simple...Just don't break the rules and you will be fine. I plan on buying an Encore pistol in the future...Maybe I will add a ml rifle barrel and stock in the future...Sounds like it could be a nice set up.
