tallone
Which summit would you guys suggest for a 6'6" guy? I can't use those with the bar in front due to my knees hitting it. I have the ole man grand vision and I always keep the shooting rail down and use it as a foot rest which I really like but I would like something that I could climb smaller trees and bigger if thats possible and still be comforable. I weigh around 240.
buckee
Re: Summit stand owners I have the BushMaster. I prefer the open front for bow-hunting too. Nothing to get in my way. http://www.summitstands.com/catalog.aspx?catID=Bushmaster
tedicast
Re: Summit stand owners I have a Broadhead Backpacker. No front bar. Fold flat. Your height will not interfere with the operation of this stand
longislandhunter
Re: Summit stand owners I have a "Summit" Bushmaster and love it. No bar in the front to get in the way and extremely comfortable and sturdy.
MCH
Re: Summit stand owners Have you tried the Goliath?? I'm 6'3" and my knees hit on my Viper, but all I have to do is adjust the height of my seat and lower the platform section and I fit in perfect. Guest bowhunter56
Re: Summit stand owners I would also recomment the Goliath viper x5. can hold 300# and has one of the biggest platforms of a summit.
LifeNRA
Re: Summit stand owners [ QUOTE ] I would also recomment the Goliath viper x5. can hold 300# and has one of the biggest platforms of a summit. [/ QUOTE ] I own a Goliath X5, I am only 5' 10" and 190 pounds. I have all kinds of room! Thats why I bought it! If any of your friends or family has one ask them to try it out! Or hit a store that has them and ask them if you can!
tallone
Re: Summit stand owners I guess I need to find a place around and see if I can try them the x5's bar worries me, 5'10 is a lot of difference from 6'6" plenty of room for you would be cramped for me. Longisland can you sit comfortable all day in your bushmaster? I've sat in some lockons simalar looking but I always felt like I had to sit up straight, never could relax which is something I am looking for, also a foot rest of some kind would be a big plus. tallone
Re: Summit stand owners One more question who has the best prices I could get one of these from? We don't have a lot of places around and the ones we do are high.

Smitteken
Re: Summit stand owners I'm 6'2" and use the cobra. I have problems when the bar is down. The razor is this years version of the cobra. I think. I think on the razor and the cobra the bar is only for sit and stand climbing, then you can fold it out of the way. Good luck. Let us know what you go with and if you like it. As a matter of fact my cousin just bought the Goliath, he really likes it and is the same size as me and weigh about 220. tallone
Re: Summit stand owners Thanks I am going to go look at them Monday and I'll let you know, I don't think they have a pole set up to try them on though? Maybe they will let me go climb a telephone pole outside. The reason I asked about the razor was it looks like I could maybe lay my legs over the bar and with a foot rest installed on the bottom I could be tilted back and comfortable. maytom
Re: Summit stand owners After much thought, I ordered the Goliath yesterday from Cabela's. I had a $25.00 bucks card to put towards the stand, so it at least paid for the shipping and some off the price as well. I like the front bar VS one without, and the fact that the Goliath is 2" wider than the Viper X5, and more heavy duty. And at only 1 pound heavier, this was an easy choice to make. Should be here within the week. Go Summit!!
tallone
Re: Summit stand owners Well I went to the place that has the summit stands. They had all of them except the razor. I can fit in the Goliath but as long as I sit up straight and as I said I like to lean back, I ended up getting a bushmaster. It doesn't have the bar and was bigger than I expected and only weighs 17 pounds. I'll be trying it out this weekend. Thanks for all the advise.
