double_drop
Just curious if anyone else is seeing some rutting sign. Was out tonight just taking a walk through the timber and saw some new scrapes and a couple new rubs that were not around earlier this week. also witnessed a little basket 6 point rubbing the tree. was pretty neat. To young to shoot though, I either go for a 140 plus buck or shoot a doe. Most of the time i end up shooting a doe but at least have a couple chances in a year to get a big boy. Guest lucky_erickson
Re: rutting signs I think there is a way to check to see how many boone and crocket bucks have been shot in an area. I just don't know how to check. Maybe the website.
GoodOlMossyHorns
Re: rutting signs the rubs and scrapes on my place are few and far between, and i don't know why.
Tominator
Re: rutting signs I got out Wednesday and saw a group of 4 does and fawns walking through a corn field. No bucks following, but 1/2 hour later as I set up on a fresh, real fresh scrape, 2 little 8ptrs came cruising by and reacted to my can and grunt calls. The little guys seem to be getting interested, so I'd say the pre rut is heating up.

Guest bigbuckmiddaugh
Re: rutting signs I've seen lots of bucks chasing does . 2-3 bucks where chasing doe at a time. Out of all that action, i didn't see one shooter buck!
elkhntnfool
Re: rutting signs No rutting action in central Montana yet. It's way to warm still in the 50's and 60's here. Nothin will happen till it gets colder.

jerdanmagic
Re: rutting signs I've seen a little chasing so far, and lots of scrapes and rubs. From my new stand I hung this year, I can see 6 different active scrapes and probably 8 or 9 rubs. A buddy of mine was lucky enough to see a buck and a doe mating over the weekend. So I'd say that here in Oklahoma its really heatin up!
fenderhunt4
Re: rutting signs I had three different small bucks coming in and out this morning... checking scrapes, rubbing trees, and chasing does. We're definitely heading into the rut soon.
