Close encounters?

Re: Close encounters?

About 3 feet. I was trying to leave my stand and it had already gotten dark. But it was just enough light out that I could see the deer filing into the food plot one by one. They were walking right past me and didn't know I was there.

I almost had a stroke.

They were all yearlings ( about 4 or 5 of them) and by the time the old doe made to the area..she stopped and stared at me forever. Then she stomped her foot and bobbed her head and took off.........with the rest of them following.

Re: Close encounters?

I've had deer about 5 feet from me on to occasions. The first time I was sitting on the ground on the edge of a field when a doe fed almost right up to my feet. On the other occasion, I was again ground hunting and had 2 bucks start fighting about 15 yards away. At one point one shoved the other almost right into my lap. They were literally right beside me.

Re: Close encounters?

I would say last year was the closest i've ever been to a deer. Hows 2 foot for ya!

Last day of gun season, it snow couple days before. I was at my father'n laws place. I decided to sit under this big white pin. Which they covered partial side of it with wood skids. Well, like always..when you get there you clean yourself all the junk/leaves, etc...where your feet are so you don't make any sound.

Well...Here comes mom with 2 youngsters. First deer thru got wind of that dirt i messed up. He/she stuck there nose in between the skids (openings) trying to get a better smell. Lmao

So i'm sitting there with a nose in my blind LOL

Then it continues to walk around the edge and was going to come in with me! It got right to the opening and smelled where my mother'n law stepped in the snow from where she entered before. Lol Thats what stopped it from coming in. (i didn't enter there)

I thought i was going to have too get another chair for him/her.
