Long action or short??

I have a Rem model 700 chambered in 30-06 and want to replace the stock and have it reblued. I realize I could probably buy another one for a bit more than I will have into having a matte finish put on it, and a new stock, but I have had this rifle for about 10 years and killed a lot of deer with it. I don't really want to buy another one...just make this one look like the new Rem 700 SPS. I have already got some great information from AJ and njbowhnter for that. Now I want to find a nice stock. My question is, how do I know for sure if my .06 is a long action or short action?? Thanks

Re: Long action or short??

Just like the e-mail I sent you says. Remington makes 2 action length in the 700, long and short. Short actions are used on guns chambered with short cartridges like the .17 Rem through .308 Win and the short magnums like the SAUMs, the 6.5 Rem Mag, and the 350 Rem Mag.

From the .25-06 - .35 Whelen, all standard length belted magnums, H&H length belted magnums, and the Ultra Mags are on a long action.

I answered your PM but your PM buffer is full and would not accept any more.
