Guest BigAl1781
ok all season long ive seen bucks and does but now that the bucks are rubbing and scraping everywhere, all i see are bucks..lol no problem but where did all the does go,are the bucks that are in rut chasing them off or what? this is a first for me bc they clearcut all the property around my land and my woods are the only left standing and all of the deer are on my land now, which is good but kinda confusing bc of not seeing does...what ya think? o and the clear cut is 300 acres and the other is over 400 with a green field on one side and a sage field on the other the other day i saw 4 bucks in one morning,,,never done that b4 here where i live

VTbowman
Re: i gotta question The doe will group up and avoid the bucks area right now. The old addage is hunt where the does are and the bucks will follow. I think right now your seeing the bucks go threw the pecking order stage (pre-rut) and the doe are grouped up and avoiding all that and not moving like during the summer. Sounds like your in a good spot and hopfully its where the breeding phase will take place. Just hang out and enjoy the buck activites! AdvantageTimberLou
Re: i gotta question I seen 17 does Saturday morning and only one buck and he was a spikehorn. Wish I had a problem seeing more bucks! Our buck to doe ratio is way out of whack here. Most of the does were small too!
buckee
Re: i gotta question I've noticed that the does disappear like that every year just before the rut really kicks in. I don't know why it happens or where they go, but it seems to happen every year.
Guest BigAl1781
Re: i gotta question its a first for me bc every year i mostly just see tons of does and maybe 3 bucks but this year ive just seen 5 does and all the rest have been bucks ....not big bucks but 5s6s just above thier ears,,,normally id shoot one of em...but im trying to let em grow and shoot the big 8 i saw last year...and looking at some of the pics on here of bucks and what they score id say hes 150 or a little better,,that is if hes still alive but no one hunts within a mile or more of the area
