VTbowman
Sounds to me like your in the right area. I for one would just stick with it. Moving or changing anything now could mess it up. JMO When are you on stand? For how long? Maybe some "dark to dark" hunts are in order to bag -em. Its tough but well worth it when you connect. Good Luck! ZooBear
Re: Am I screwwd or just need to give it time No way would I hunt the same tree for a week. Your bound to be leaving scent everywhere. Has the wind been right everyday? You will end up with some very smart deer.

MUDRUNNER
Re: Am I screwwd or just need to give it time IF THE WIND IS RIGHT I WOULD KEEP HUNTING THAT STAND.SOUNDS LIKE A GOOD SPOT AND IT SHOULD ONLY BE A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE YOU GET A SHOT. Addct2hntng
Re: Am I screwwd or just need to give it time try putting a dummy up in the tree and go hide on the ground were they are walking.. my friend does this alot during gun season seems to work well for him .. Jeramie
Re: Am I screwwd or just need to give it time In your case I would really check my scent and PLAY THE WIND. It sounds to me they know something isn't kosher. Have you killed deer in this area in the past? Deer also associate certain areas with danger. If I were you I would set up about 25 yards down wind further down trail in a funnel or something. I wouldn't bring in a huge ground blind. Dig up a few old branches that have fallen and stick them in the ground around you for cover. Keep your movements to a bare minimum. Then see what happens. Get out there early enough to let the scent die.... If that doesn't sound like a plan stay put in your stand. As Ryan (aka fingers) has stated, be patient. They will eventually slip. Thats what makes bow-hunting worthwhile... Its unpredictable!
Rut-Nut
Re: Am I screwwd or just need to give it time Stick with it. My buddy hunted his permanent stand for 3 weeks with deer, but no shot. He put up my hang-on where he was seeing most of the deer pass- guess what? Yep, first day he was in the hang-on, he had a nice 6 pt and many doe walk right under his permanent stand! I told him to pick a stand and stick with it!!!! buckee
Re: Am I screwwd or just need to give it time It sounds to me that the deer have patterned you, as well as you have patterned them. They obviously know when your there and when your not. It's time you made a surprise attack, with a ground blind. It doesn't have to be fancy, just enough to hide you and break up your outline. Things to consider are Wind direction , scent control and where the deer enter the orchard from. You can do it...just put your thinking cap on and analyze the situation. PS...we want pics when you get one eh
