Shaun_300
My uncle is an outfitter up here for black bears, he uses day-old donuts for bait from a chain coffee/donut shop in Ottawa. What he does, is put some donuts in an old oil drum, tilts it on its side and covers the top with a piece of plywood, then stacks logs and rocks at the top so that small critters like porcupines and raccoons cannot get in and eat the donuts. He also has a "stink bait" about 20 feet from the donuts. This can be old meat scraps or fish guts, hung in a sack up in a tree so the bears can't rip it down. Its just used to get the bears in the area. Let me tell you, MAN does it STINK! Anyways, the bears come to the smell of rotting meat, then come across the donuts and feast until they can't eat anymore. We keep the bait full, and they keep coming. It's just like a gourmet buffet for them! Hope this helps!
