slugshooter
Re: Why so quick to jump to help other countries. [ QUOTE ] Maybe I have missed it in the news but how many of these countries have seen millions and millions of dollars to our relief fund? Correct me if I'm wrong. [/ QUOTE ] Yep, you missed it, not to sound like a smart aleck. I posted a list about a two weeks after Katrina in here to stifle the potests of my more conservative brothers in here about all these countries never sending us anything when in fact many, many countries sent aid to the U.S. after Katrina hit. As far as helping out our own first, I'm all for that, but be careful saying that in here, you might get labeled a communist. Been there, done that. Welcome. stevebeilgard
Re: Why so quick to jump to help other countries. some countries did help out, but not many. fact is, the usa is the most generous peoples in the world, bar none. don't expect others to follow. most are liberal countries, and don't have any extra dollars. markyj987
Re: Why so quick to jump to help other countries. [ QUOTE ] Shouldn't our people come first. [/ QUOTE ] I think you were more or less referring to hurricane disaster relief here, but let me expand on that. As Steve said, we are certainly the most generous country in the world. We are the only superpower and even now in our "troubled" economy, lead the world in innovation, entrepreneuership, and opportunities. Leaving the hurricane victims out of this, what about our people? The VAST majority of our people in need have the ability to help themselves out of their dire situations. Welfare, job programs, forced redistribution of wealth is all done to give them a boost with it. No, i'm not talking about the young, the elderly, or the disabled. I'm talking about the lazy and addicted. Government is there to help these people too--but most of them don't want it. They'd rather be a drain on the system than make an effort to better their situation. Of course, some liberals want to give them all of these resources to "help" them...but also provide free needles to addicts. What's up with that anyway? Anyway, like I said--our own people CAN for the most part--help themselves--but just aren't willing. I would rather see my tax money funneled to a new democracy to build infrastructure than to give more money to the junkies and the lazy. oldksnarc
Re: Why so quick to jump to help other countries. Since you mentioned it..... [ QUOTE ] labeled a communist [/ QUOTE ] And, speaking of.... [ QUOTE ] Welfare, job programs, forced redistribution of wealth [/ QUOTE ] The basic tenet behind Communism is that everyone shares equally and all people are equal. That is also one of the basic failures of Communism. All persons did not share equally nor were they equal. In our country the forced redistribution of wealth is called another name. Guest lostiniowa
Re: Why so quick to jump to help other countries. we do help almost everyone, but unfortunately to the world it seems that we only help those who can help us. Like Iraq, they have oil! That is why some country especially middle eastern, have a negative outlook on america.
