I am going wed. for a hunt up north and its going to be cold, i live in florida and hunt maryland i just bought some polar tech thermal underwear for the bowhunt im going on because i will be on stand all day i got the redhead polartec power stretch thermal undwear. the expedition weight for stationary activities in extreame cold conditions, cost me 140 bucks. Should it fit snug for one and two does it work well. I have been using military polypropelene stuff in the past but it is old so i thought this stuff looked good?? anybody use it? how well does it work, will it be good for bowhunting from a treestand all day long in the 30s

Re: Polar tech question?

I use polar tech, but not from Red Head. I've got a jacket and bibs in the expedition weight. I use it up north in Ohio and this stuff is truley warm. Don't do a lot of walking in the expedition or you'll be soaked. I don't think you'll be let down with either of your purchases. Good luck on your hunt.

To answer your first question: Your base layer should always fit pretty tight. You want the base layer close to the skin everywhere on your body so it can wick the moisture away from your skin. This is why the polypropelene and similar garments like underarmor etc. work so well. They keep you dry. To be warm, you must first be dry. Good luck.
