I Was Hunting Deer, But Dad was Hunting Turkey!

We got out very early Saturday morning. I hiked up my tree, my father was sitting on the ground for turkey. The following weekend I seen a bunch of birds walked below me. So I had him set up about 100 yards below me. I almost had a shot at a doe, but the chance never came. Later on in the day we both heard the birds making their way towards us. I switched arrows with the one that has the turkey stopper and a field tip. The birds only got about 50 yards to me then turned towards my father. There were only two of them, a gobbler and a hen this time. The gobbler was a young jake and his gobbles were known if you could have heard them. They sound comical at their age! LOL! Anyways he was walking away from my dad so he started gobbling back at him with his box call. Next this you know the young jake started heading his way. Not knowing where the hen was yet at this time I still remained ready with my bow. Then I heard the hen clucking and putting. She must have been close to my father, because I heard him then doing the same thing. He wanted the gobbler but he never got close enough. But the hen did! Tonight I had my first taste of wild turkey. It was very good too! Here is his bird for the fall season!
