Texan_Til_I_Die
Ran across this really cool dwelling while I was scouting the day before deer season opened in Utah. Here's the entrance... Another angle of the entrance... Here's one of the interior... This is the fireplace... And this is me standing inside the dwelling... Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Indian Dwelling The ladder's been replaced sometime in the last 20 years or so. I think the rest of it is original. It IS in the middle of nowhere, about 25 miles to a paved road. There's no signs leading to it or anything. We were driving along on the 4 wheelers and ran into it down in a canyon.

Texan_Til_I_Die
Re: Indian Dwelling [ QUOTE ] That's a pretty cool find. Does it look like anyone has been living there?? [/ QUOTE ] There were a few rabbit and mouse remains. They may have fallen in through the chimney and couldn't get out, or an owl or hawk might have been using it. TreeWalker
Re: Indian Dwelling That is awesome...... A few years back we were riding horseback up by the north unit of the badlands, and we came across the remnants of several cedar pole teepees.......they were still upright and everything.........I'll see if I can dig up the pics........they were entangled in so much heavy cover, you had to literally happen right on them to even see them......... slugshooter
Re: Indian Dwelling Thats pretty awesome. I love walking up on things like that, of course, there are too many in ground Indian dwellings in NC that I know of, but, just walking up on anything that is in a nodescript location. The public land I hunt has some grave markers here and there I have walked up on. I can just see it now though, later on that night, some poor old Indian medicine man came home and said, who's been in my hole, then he put a curse on whoever it was down in there.
