Which Drop Away Rest?

I shoot a Montana Black Gold Trap Door and love it, granted it does not keep the arrow from falling off but I am never really stalking deer. My bow is always on a hook and I just grab it when deer are present. I personally don't need a containment type drop away.

I have heard good things about the Rip Cord though. I am sure you will get some good comments on here of what others use.

I am also looking at a drop away for next year. I like containment as well, and the best I have see with the best recommendations is the Ulrta rest by NAP. Look into it. It is the rest that the developer of the parker phoneix shoots, and what T-Bone recommends.

If you like the containment of the biscuit, take a look at the Vital Bow Gear. Ultimate FallAway, or KazAway. They are both great fallaways and have excellent arrow containment. I am shooting an Ultimate FallAway right now, but am considering a switch to the Kaz-Away for next year.

Re: Which Drop Away Rest?

This is the first year for me shooting a drop away rest as well. I was shooting a Bodoodle for the last 9 seasons, and with this new bow, I went with two firsts.

(1) string loop, and (2) "Trophy Ridge Drop Zone", drop away rest. I love this rest and set-up so far!!

Re: Which Drop Away Rest?

I shoot a Mathews Micro Rest on my Switchback. They redesigned the rest this year on the idea of the Schaffer Rest. It bolts to the riser and is automatically locked into position. It wraps around the back of the riser shelf. When you bolt it on, you don't have to worry about moving the rest up or down, just bolt it right on and make some tuning adjustments.

So, since you shoot a Hoyt, take a look at the Schaffer TEC-1. It is specifically made for Hoyt. I shot the Schaffer MAT-1 for a bit before I got the Mathews Micro Rest and it was a very nice rest.

I also shoot a Mathews Micro Rest on my Switchback and love it. Chrud has my old bow with the Muzzy Zero Effect - very reliable, sturdy, easy to use - would recommend it.
