Re: Silly Season

Looks likeit's in full swing now. On Jayski.com, they are reporting that it is a done deal, bobby Labonte to the 42. This will let McMurray move to Rousch for 2006, and Kurt Busch move to Penske. I wonder if Interstate will go with Labonte. Hard to think of one without the other.

[/ QUOTE ]

How does Labonte moving open the door for these other 2 drivers to switch teams. One has nothing to do with the other. confused.gif

Yes it does. Kurt Busch will go to Penske for Rusty's ride. McMurray will go to Roush for Kurt's ride. What does Bobby Labonte have to do with it?...

Well, both Busch and McMurray are under contract next year for Roush and Ganassi. They are trying to be released after this year, to go on to their new rides. But, if Roush isn't guaranteed McMurray (ie no one to fill the 42 ride) next year, he isn't going to let Busch go.

But, if Bobby Labonte is signed to go to Ganassi next year in the 42, that'll finalize the deal to send Busch to Penske and McMurray to Roush. So, Labonte is really the "deal closer" in this transaction. wink.gif

You know what, you're right. I wasn't thinking clearly, (look for my last thread in the lounge). I had read about a week ago that Bobby was being considered for the #43 over at Petty, and when I saw the #42, I automatically thought Petty Enterprises instead of Ganassi. Now, it makes more sense. Labonte would be much better off at Ganassi then Petty, I told a guy I work with last night that you might as well put a gun to your head than go to Petty Enterprises. My mistake, if I had had my morning cigarrette this AM it would have made more sense.

Who wouldn't want to drive the most famous car in Nascar history? Who wouldn't want to work for a family with strong moral and christian values? Who wouldn't want to drive a car with Evernham motors under the hood and Robbie Loomis running the show?

Petty Enterprises is one great driver short of making some noise again after a long absence. I've been a huge fan of theirs for years and last 10 have been miserable, but things are taking shape over there and I look for good things especially if they can lure Bobby Labonte into the seat of the #43. JMO.

Who wouldn't want to bring up the rear of the pack. Petty Enterprises needs to move out of Level Cross, and into a state of the art facility. They still build their cars in the same place that Lee Petty built his, NASCAR has passed them by, sad but true, it's gonna take a lot more than Robbie Loomis to pull them out of the muck, considering all he did for them before, and all he did for the #24 last season.

Re: Silly Season

They won't pull out of the muck overnight - bringing Robbie back is a good start. He was at the helms the last time PE went to victory lane and he visited victory lane many times with Gordon. The guy will make a difference! If you put a proven driver behind the wheel (Labonte) I think they can make some noise. PE can only go up and I think they're headed that way.

Regardless of their on-track performance, I will always admire them for their strong family values and committment to charity. Would love to see Kyle visit victory lane just once behind the wheel of the 45.

I have nothing against Petty Enterprises, but that team is lacking more than just a driver. That team lacks leadership. PE is no where near on the same level as Hendrick, or Rousch, or even Childress or DEI for that matter. I like Kyle Petty, always have, but he has way to much on his plate, between driving, The Victory Junction camp, and dealing with the loss of his son, to be able to lead Petty Enterprises to anything resembling a succesfull season. Again this is no way a knock at Kyle, or anyone else in PE. It is just fact.
