I'd turn is butt in to the authorities in a heart beat. The way I look at it is, the people I hang out with and consider "friends" are a direct reflection on me. If I hang out with scum bags that poach, then chances are, I'm going to be looked at in the same light. Screw that. Life is too short and I have too much self respect for that. I'd dump his butt as a friend and if the other guys in the group had a problem with it, then they were not true friends and the kind of guys I'd want to be associated with. I call a spade a spade. If I see a friend break the law such as your buddy did, then I call him out on it. Last year, I had a friend that shot a good 8 pointer the opener of gun season. I was there when he gave the buck to another guy (a non hunter) and that guy handed my friend a new buck license in his name. I called him out on it. I told him straight to his face that if I even heard that he went out and shot a second buck I'd turn his butt in. I never heard if he did shoot a second one or not. Honestly, I haven't spoke to him since and I have not missed that. Again, do what you think is right, but in my opinion the people you hang out with directly reflect how others look at you. For him to mount it and be so proud of it makes me sick even worse than him poaching it. He is a scum sucking jerk. it is one thing to break the law and kill a deer, this is bad enough. But to actually have the nerve to mount it like he worked for this buck is unbelievable. Turn his butt in!!!!! You are just as guilty of you don't. Ever hear of aiding and abbedding? We need to protect our sport and the deer so the law abiding hunters have a fair chance to kill a trophy buck. horst Posted November 3, 2005 Report Share Posted November 3, 2005 Re: This Makes me sick Funny thing, a couple years ago i posted a question in here and had almost 100% agreement on something.People {mostly bowhunters responded} didnt look at their watches when it was getting close to dark and a shot oppurtunity presented itself.As long as they could still see thier sights clearly they would shoot regardless of what time shooting hoyurs actually ended.A large majority didnt even wear watches to thier stands so they had no way of knowing if theyd shot a deer after legal hours.We all know that legal shooting hours and the time its actually to dark to shoot are usually 2 entirely different things,. I guesse what Im getting at is this, a few minutes or 2 hours, thier both outta season.So why is everyone so willing to admitt to shooting a couple minutes late but ready to string this kid up for the exact same crime???I just find that interesting. The biggest bcuk my one uncle has ever gotten, he hit this huge buck with is truck, and got him mounted. We call him Martin, because it happened on Martin LUther King Day. lol. I cant believe he even told anyone of what he did, and the fact that he is getting this deer mounted is rediculous. It is tough to be in your shoes where you know the person and what he did and not feel like you can do anything to get him in trouble to learn his lesson.
