I'ts lookin like a ground blind

Last night I was putting up a ladder stand and the chain that attatched it snampped. The stand twisted and came off the tree and I found myself falling head first (don't know how that happeend) from 20 feet up. I caught a limb about 1/2 way down and ripped it out of the tree, but it did manage to get me upright. I landed on my feet and then dropped hard on my but. After crawling out into a cleariing, I pulled out my cell phone and called the land owner.

After some time in the hospital last night, I'm home with my right leg in an imobilizer, a bruised elboe and a crushed 7th and 9th vertibret. I'm able to walk a little, but won't be able to lift or bend for about 6-8 seeks and I'm gonna be at home on my back for at least half of that.

BTW. My fall restraint is still up in the tree. I had unhooked it and was heading down wihen the stand fell.

Sorry about the fall......man that sucks.

I see your avatar and think about what could have been.

Unfortunately, most people fall just like you did...on the way up or down. They do now have some systems that will help prevent this but still let you do your work. I think Summit has one and there is angel wings.

Get better and heal well and then don't give up on the trees, just get a better system.

John,

Definitely follow the doctor's advice and do exactly what they say and how. When you think you are better, lay off some more.

Your lower back supports all your upper body weight and if you don't let it heal correctly then you will have significant pain and mobility problems for some time.

Definitely count your blessings, man. Most people who fall on their brain like that have some sort of brain injury! laugh.gif Just kidding you man, trying to lighten your load.
