Rattling Patterns

Was just wondering how you all rattle in a sequence. Like what do you do, clash them, then just crank them together for 30 seconds? I'm just wondering because I've never rattled before but I'm hunting an area this year that I should be, right now the antlers I want to use are a small 6 and a small 4 point.

Re: Rattling Patterns

start off by rubbing a tree with one of the antlers and then clash the antlers together hard. This will get the attention of any buck within ear shot. Bucks don't just tinkle antlers together so make it sound like two big bucks that are mad.

Re: Rattling Patterns

I start off soft in case theirs somthin close by .If nothin shows within 3-5 min. I give the horns a loud crack along with some grunting lots of clashing and hard rubbing then a short break and do it over again.

Wain 15-20 min. try again They may charge in lookin for a fight or sneak in down wind each encounter will be diff.

Re: Rattling Patterns

Buy a video or tape.Have you ever seen 2 bucks fighting?Or heard them?I have.Ive seen a buck on a hot doe.He followed her grunting almost every 3 steps.Another buck came out to his grunting.Well the fight was on.But they did start softly with tinkling & then got real serious.Pound the ground with one of the antlers as if hoof stopping. Also rake the grass & shrubs during sequences.
