bigmoss
I have decided I am going to get a new ML, I have seen many of the hunting people using the new Encore ML and really like the look of it and the fact you can change barrels to like a 7MM and travel with just one gun. Is the Encore ML as good and on equal ground as the Omega ? I assume you hear Omega all the time as it is just a ML ? I assume the quality and accuracy is the same and I should just base my decision on where I want a single purpose or dual purpose gun ? Fair Statement ? Need you TC owners to chime in here. AJ
Re: Encore or Omega ? While the Encore is more versitile, I would choose the Omega over it if I was after a new ML. Pluses of Omega The Omega has a 28" barrel, more velocity, handles magnum charges better. Does not have the hinge or a dual piece stock. Has a falling block design that is very simple. Lower price. Pluses of Encore Interchangable barrels - versitile Like you said, do you want a multi purpose gun or a ML?
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Re: Encore or Omega ? i had to make the same decision last year when i wanted a ML....it was between the encore and the omega...i chose the encore...other than the obvious reason of the interchanging barrels...it just felt better in my hands...to me it seems like the omega was alot heavier and the grip on the encore felt great. bigmoss
Re: Encore or Omega ? Thanks for the replies guys, I guess ya I am looking for a multi purpose, plus I am a gadget guy LOL, I have 3 very nice rifles now just like all I have seen from the encore everytime I have seen it used. The fact that I can setup 2 barrels with scopes etc ready to go is great, carry both in the same case which is nice as some of the places I hunt now have ML go right into rifle and that will make things easier. Will wait to hear from a few more TC members but leaning towards Encore so far ! BM
KYLimbHanger
Re: Encore or Omega ? I'll chime in. I have owned four muzzleloaders: CVA $99 POS, a Remi 700MLS okay, a terribly maintained TC Hawkin, and my last and keeper....OMEGA! I shoot a Stainless Flutted Thumbhole Omega .50 cal. I absolutley love this muzzleloader. I topped it with a Leupold VX-II 3-4X40 and TC Maxima rings and base. The ML really shoots great with 250 gr. TC Shockwaves and 2 50gr. 777 pellets. Grouped cutting bullets holes at 100 yards. Clean up is a breeze. I already have deer rifles, so the Encore wasn't an option. Also, I think an Encore is kinda awkward to hold. I know there are some Encore lovers that will flame me on that (including my brother). But, I just didn't like the feel of an Encore. Maybe with a thumbhole stock!!! The Omega is beginning to be a solid name in the muzzleloading community. For me, the Omega is the "end" of finding a good muzzleloader. First deer with my Omega was a nice 7 point at 100 yards. Noting between us but clean KY air! The Omega performed with ease!
EKYhunter
Re: Encore or Omega ? I think you answered your own question already. I have an Encore which is all Hardwoods HD, stock, frame, and barrel. I topped it off with a nikon pro series which is in Hardwoods Green and got the talley one piece mount which is Hardwoods. Maybe you that I LOVE camo guns! Anyway, if you just want a ML go with the Omega. If you want to interchange barrels go with the Encore. I don't think one will outshoot the other as both are very accurate once you find the right load. Also, go do a comparison test. Shoulder both of them and see which feels best in your hands. tedicast
Re: Encore or Omega ? When I was going out to buy my last ml'er I had it in my head I was buying an Omega. That lasted untill I handled an Omega, and an Encore side by side. I just loved the way the Encore felt. You honestly can't go wrong with either gun. DannoBoone1
Re: Encore or Omega ? I got an Encore before ever hearing of "Omega" (other than "I am the Alpha and the Omega", but that is a different story). I later got a Savage 10ML so I could leave the varmint barrel on the Encore during deer season...........so much for the barrel change idea! Guest deldeer
Re: Encore or Omega ? omega for me....im not a big fan of changing barrels, & i hear they are kind of pricey also. i can tell you that i really like the simplicity of the omega. easy to clean & maintain, very easy to prime (which means alot to me when it's freezing out), & i like the way it handled....that is the important part (comfort)...but like tedicast said you can't go wrong with either one.....good luck!!!!!! tedicast
Re: Encore or Omega ? [ QUOTE ] I just shot my new Encore this weekend for the first time. That is the nicest gun I have ever shot. It doesn't kick [/ QUOTE ] Put a 12 gauge slug barrel on your Encore. Go to the range, and come back and tell me it don't kick ...LOL . I love my Encore as a ml'er. Very mild recoiling gun with 100 grains of 777 and 295 grain powerbelts. A whole different story with the slug barrel shooting 2 3/4", 1- 1/4 ounce Lightfield Hybred EXP's. After about 6 shots I have a headache...lol
tedicast
Re: Encore or Omega ? [ QUOTE ] Shotguns stink. I would rather shoot my ML over the old 870 anyday. Is there any advantage to using the 295gr. over the 240gr. bullets? [/ QUOTE ] Unfortunately, on state land we are shotgun only during the gun season. My gun just happened to prefer the 295's. too_pointer
Re: Encore or Omega ? My Encore likes the 295's also. I am using 2-50grn. pellets of 777 right now, but plan on trying 150 grns. next season. I may have to change bullets when I do, won't know till I try it LOL.
