Turkeygirl
Well since about Thursday, we'veh ave temps. in the the 60's to almost 70, and I have seen no deer. Andy saw alot of deer in the fields yesterday and dead on the road, I know the bucks are really moving now but this warm weather must be keeping them lazy or something. We saw nothing this morning but here is the good news. The stand i've been hunting where that big buck walked under...well there was a rub on a tree about 5 yards from the tree my stand is in and when I went hunting Friday, the rub was even bigger! So I know therei s a buck traveling there, just have to wait him out I guess. I just hope this weather cools down a little bit so the deer get moving. But Andy talked to his brother today who leaves like 45 minutes away, and the deer I guess are moving early whereas if the weather is warm, the deer don't move until about half an hour before dark. Anyone else is a similar situation with the warm weather?
ranchand99
Re: The rut and warm weather.... We are having a difficult time this year also.We are seeing tracks, and sign, but not much movement. We have seen piles of deer in the headlights. What deer we have been seeing are at sporatic times,or just before dark. There seems to not be any kind of regularity to the movement.Good luck to you! Guest whitetailarcher
Re: The rut and warm weather.... We started with some warm weather, but this morning it got down to about 20. There hasn't been much difference in movement. The big guy I'm after I've only seen once, but he has about 10 different groundscrapes in the strip i'm in. Just waiting for rut to kick in a little more so he isn't as smart. The one time i did see him he was following a doe really hard. The doe came out of the thick rushes and right under my stand, but once the buck hit the edge of the rushes he refused to go any farther.
