Need some advice for fishing tomorrow...

Ok.. Here is my dilemma... In mid-late September, I was having some awesome fishing for largemouth and smallmouth bass in the reservoir behind my house. Then it rained for 9 days straight here about a month ago and the fishing has stunk since then. Not to mention the fact that the shore was quicksand and about 20 ft of it had been eaten up by water. I've been back there twice since the storm and it seems like it is drying up somewhat and getting back to normal, but the shore is still engulfed. Anyway, I want to go fishing down there tomorrow. I do not have a boat, just me from the shore. There are smallmouth & largemouth bass, brown trout and carp in there, probably some catfish too, but I think they're in deeper water. There is a large dam I can go to to fish off of but I cannot really cast far out.

Anyway, I want to get down there before the water really heats up. It is supposed to be about 52*F at 7 AM. Here is the local forecast: Weather

You see, the thing is, I don't know what to do. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Re: Need some advice for fishing tomorrow...

largemouths i am no help on. Up here at least this time of year the smallmouths go deep and to mid-lake reefs to feet on large baitfish that are moving up. A reservoir down there may be different, but up here at thsi time shore fishing for smallmouths is tough. I know didly about brown trout, but with water cooling they will not need to be deep to get suitable temps...that may not mean they are shallow, but who knows. I would brobably fish under the dam, because with water temps mixing, and baitfish and other food being stirred up there will likely be something hungry.

Ok.. I went out for 2 hours this morning. Left at 7:00 and came home at about 9:00... Outing wasn't too bad... I caught a perch, the first perch I ever caught and a nice sized largemouth. I was using a floating baby brown trout rapala that I forgot I had... Because of you fisherguy and you mentioning the fact of the baitfish, I decided to give that a try and whaddya know? It worked. Thanks!
