Not a deer but......

Headed to my 80 acres in Cleveland county this morning. Climbed in the stand around 5:30 and hunted until 10:30am. Only saw one deer all morning--small 4 point buck. I decided to climb down and stalk to the food plot to see if anything might still be feeding on it.

As I arrived on the food plot I found it void of deer so I started the hike to my truck. I then looked over to one corner of the plot and noticed some movement. Pulled up the Nikon's and saw this big hog. Todd went into stalk mode. After stalking about 75 yards and getting set up where I thought the pig would go--it changed directions and started going the direction I just came from. Fortunately the wind was in my favor so I back tracked to try to intercept the hog. I knealed next to a small oak tree and when the hog was about 40 yards away I drew my AR34. She was walking at a slow pace and when I thought she was 30 yards away I let the arrow fly. She then headed into the woods---I thought the shot was good so I headed to the truck and came back 30 minutes later to track. Tracking was easy as I had an excellent blood trail.

Here's a link to the pic----the pic is very graphic with lots of blood. For some dumb reason I left the arrow in the hog when I took the picture so you can see my shot selection but doesn't make for a very "pretty pic"

Todd's Hog pic

not a deer but was still pretty fun. this was my first bow stalk that I was successful on

Holy Crap how much did it weigh?

Ryan--I have no idea how much that hog weighed. I'm guessing well over 300# as I couldn't drag it one foot!

Tony--that might be. I know in the past that if the hogs are hanging around I don't see the deer. I've never seen the hogs actually run the deer off but several times I've had does on the food plot and a hog shows up and the deer leave. Those deer just don't like being around the hogs at all.
