lil hunter
Re: Where can I get cardboard? Theres a little store here called Save-a-lot,(i'm sure you've heard of it) They usually have a big block of compressed cardboard sitting out in the back of the store. Everytime I see 'em I think of how it could make an excellent target. You may wanna check a few stores around you.
huntinsonovagun
Re: Where can I get cardboard? Check with ANY major retailer. I worked for Sears one summer, and they go through a TON of cardboard, but I believe they recycle it. I now work at Stage, and we just throw it away!!! Just ask around...most places would LOVE to have you take it off their hands....really fills up a dumpster!

[/ QUOTE ] LOL... lil' that block wieghs about 1200 lbs....hehe.. it's bailed in a compactor and tied of with 4 wires.. I thought the same as you did..." man that would make a great target " Well so happens Im a manager in a large supermaket and I loaded one of those bails up in the truck an brought it home..... BIG BIG MISTAKE,,, I ran in the house got the bow and shot three arrows in it,,,, YEP stopped all three dead in their tracks..... Walked up to get the arrows and had a heck of a time trying to pull them out..... ,,,,, when I did get them out of the bail all three were severely cracked from the impact... I guess these bails a compacted way too tight for an archery target.. but it sure would make one heck of a rifle target.... Grocery stores have tons of cardboard, especially after a stock day but they don't like to have the stuff hanging around very long, so you wuld have to get to it before they compact bail it.... shockwave
Re: Where can I get cardboard? I work in a grocery store, as a meat cutter, they actually weigh 8 to 900lbs, still to big for your pick-up,lol

NOT !! The bails we make with our 4 wire bailer will weigh 1200 lbs. if maxed out.... And it will fit in the bed if a heavy duty 4x4 if stood on it's edge..... I know what these 4 wire bails weigh at their max, C&S and Webster has had them weighed so they will know what to charge the destanation that will be using them for fuel..... There are 3 different types of bailers and each will make different size bails it's so happens we have one of the big boys..... and it usually takes us 3-4 days to fill this compactor... These bails aren't what I would call ideal for a archery target,,, but like I said they will make one heck of a rifle target....
BowtechTurkeyHunter
Re: Where can I get cardboard? Stacked phone bookls work great for targets you shoot into the pages part when they are on there sides dont shoo into the binding and you can usually get the phone books froma hotel that is switching the books outa the guest rooms I have access to a whole pallet full of them I could have them all if I wanted free... you dont ahve to strap them or anything ... the weight of the books provides just about the right amount of pressure for easy arrow removal.... just an idea...
